I found something really interesting yesterday, we were always told as kids to drink milk for calcium, but I have found out that 40% of people become lactose intollerant by the time they are 20, it is mad that something we deem as being so good for us can be soooo bad. REactions range from a rumbling stomach to vomiting and rashes, I really did noit know that so many people suffered. All I can say is it's a good job I dont like milk, but soya milk....yak, not drinking that either, it tastes lik eit has gone sour.

Does that figure include global population? I remember my professor once told me that when a person stops drinking milk for seven years, the body stops producing enzyme that is responsible for digesting milk. Another thing that comes to mind is the process of producing milk. I mean all the chemicals they infuse to the milking cows so they produce milk fast and meet the demand. It's not really a naturally produced milk anymore.

I think you are right, to my knowledge that is worldwide. Would definately like to read more about it. Isn't it amazing that everyone has a pearl of wisdom to share?

We all have little gems of knowledge to share depending on our experiences in life. They may be fact on general information, queer, common, important, or trivia. It's great to share with others and also to learn from each other.

I am surprised the number is not higher. Humans have not completely developed the ability to properly process bovine milk. Cattle have not been domesticated for long enough yet. I rarely drink milk. But that is because I live in the USA that homogenizes and pasteurizes milk. Both of which cause the bad things in bovine milk to pass easily into the human system. Which has lead to the rise of stomach cancer. Before these two processes were enacted, stomach cancer was a very rare cancer indeed.

Very true. However, people also did not live as long. Nature always finds a balance.

oh really, how could i possibly know if i am lactose intolerant without going to the doctor? all i know is that, milk is diuretic (not sure of the spelling), meaning it helps my bowel movement. that's why when i want to poo, i drink milk or any drinks that has milk in it. coffee does the same thing to me. but i only do that if i'm lazy to eat fruits or other fiber source.

Thanks for your the information I did not know that and it's good that I learn new thing everyday.I like some soy milk but not all they taste good that is if i drink it by it self not woth cereal or cofe or anything els. I don't like reagular milk because it has a faty taste so I have to water it down or use 2% milk. Milk I think is ok with me but I don't like the taste of some but so far i don't have any side affects. I hope I will never do because I love yougerts, chees, and many other things that have milk.
