2009 IRB Nations Cup: Italy A - France A

The 2009 IRB Nations Cup, hosted by Bucharest (Romania), started Friday, June the 12th with the match between Italy A and France A. France won the game without much thrills, scoring not less than five tries. The Italian scored first, when Riccardo Bocchino transfeormed a penalty, but then he French got the initiative and scored a try in the 15th minute, by Lionel Mazars. The French scored two more tries during the first half, in the 22nd and 37th minutes, rising the score to 19-6. One minute before break, the Italian transformed another penalty. The second half showed the same performance from the two teams, with France dominating and scoring two more tries, the game ending Italy A 15-31 France A.

When you say Italy A and France A were these not the actual sides? Were they only their A teams? Anyhow, I rarely follow rugby these days. Cheers! Ram

Yes, there were the A representatives, with only a few of the players that usually play in the big tournaments for the first teams, the rest being reserve or younger players that need to be kept in contact with international competitions and that might one day play in the first representative.
