I was always told it safe in the first and second trimester to travel on plane as long as the doctor says its okay. The third trimester is when you shouldn't travel especially by plane.

Airlines have a cutoff date in the third trimester. Most airlines accept a letter confirming fitness to travel after twenty eight weeks. In the first trimester there is a risk of miscarriage so a pregnant lady should have a relaxing trip.

In the first twelve weeks a pregnant lady must take things fairly gently. There is a risk of miscarriage at that stage of pregnancy. It is safer to travel after twelve weeks pregnancy. Some pregnant ladies suffer sickness and are tired in early pregnancy. The best time to travel in pregnancy is from sixteen weeks and twenty eight weeks. I went on trips when I was twelve weeks pregnant, sixteen weeks pregnant and eighteen weeks pregnant without any problems. Your friend would be allowed to fly but she should have travel insurance that covers pregnancy. A twelve hour flight was uncomfortable for me at eighteen weeks pregnancy. At four to six weeks pregnant I didn't feel well enough to travel. Good luck to your friend.
