Anyone out there read the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris? Or do you watch the show based on the books, True Blood? If you do, what do you like (or dislike) about them and who are your favorite characters. For those who don't know, the Sookie Stackhouse books are romantic mysteries about a telepathic barmaid and the vampires in her life. In the books, the Japanese have invented a synthetic blood and vampires have come out into the open. They're fun, quirky books, great for summer reading. I adore the series. The most recent book just came out last month. If you like vampires, romance, mysteries, and humor, definitely try these!

I tried them a while back and I don't like them as well as some other books in that genre so I haven't been keeping up with the series. I am kind of curious about the tv series and may rent it.

Most people I talk to like the series a lot. I don't, but I think I would have if I hadn't read all of the books first. The series strays too much from the books for my taste. If you aren't a big fan of the books you might like it.

Oh my word... I keep hearing about this series of books. I am in a book club and we are reading Mary Monroe novels. But its nothing like what you mention here. I think I will have to make this series be my next book I read.

You definitely should. It's a really great series. Even if someone isn't a fan of vampires, I think they'd like them. They're really quirky and fun, but there's a dark vein running through them as well.
