I think it's important to be able to do more than one thing. That way you always have something to fall back on. Even in teaching, I've found examples. My music teacher was a speech teacher first, then my school was like "Hey, we need a music teacher, why don't YOU do it? :D" So although it's good to have one thing you're really good at, it's really good to have lots of things you can do too. I know I don't have one specific thing that I'm great at, but I'm interested in a lot of things. Also, if you concentrate all your energy on one thing, it stops being enjoyable..

The saying is appropriate in todays society. For a job you need to know how to do many tasks. If you only know how to do one of the tasks then your not all that great for your company.
