Let's say it is several days before pay day or you are just flat broke. What if you were so hungry, you decided to eat something you would not normally eat. What would that food be? I am kind of restricted as to what I would eat because I am vegetarian, so even if I was that desperate, I would not eat meat.

one very cheap 'delicacy' available in the UK is raw tripe, for those of you not in the know that is cow's stomach. It is actually delicious with lots of raw onions and vinegar on top but definitely a 'northern' dish.

I'm not sure what the weirdest food I've eaten would be, but I do think some people think I'm weird for eating certain foods, or not eating for that matter (like not liking BBQ sauce or ketchup). I love rice cakes and when I first started eating them, they weren't as common as they are now. My sisters thought I was eating styrofoam... When I was a kid, I'd eat wallpaper paste... was no different than cream of wheat to my mind.

Oh, and I just remembered! When I was a teen I had beef heart... had to eat it quick before the fat started congealing... after awhile my sisters and I agreed we'd rather not have meat if it meant it was going to be beef heart, so my mom gave up serving it. (It was incredibly cheap -- no wonder!)

It would be toast and butter. I'm serious! I've had to do that before and gosh, I lost so much weight because of that! My ex couldn't find work because he wouldn't look for it and we ended up on food stamps which we all know very well that they don't cover very much or stretch very far so I've had to rely on toast and butter for a time. BUT, the weirdest food I've ever eaten would have to be blow fish. lol A friend of mine in Texas had family in Delaware who would catch blow fish and they knew how to fillet them without getting any of the poison on the fish and they'd send it overnight to my friends and they invited me over to try it and it is really good! lol
