Your Kitten is in the Mail?

Who does this? Some fool dropped a kitten into a US Mailbox in Boston sometime last Friday. The poor baby was discovered Saturday afternoon by the postal worker making his/her normal rounds. The poor little creature has been dubbed Postina and will be put up for adoption as soon as she is well. I am sure she won't have trouble finding a home. Read the rest of the article here http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090616/ap_on_fe_st/us_odd_mailbox_kitten (not a referral link). I mean couldn't they just take her to the local humane society, she could have died in that mailbox. People just make me so mad with they way they treat animals sometimes. I have heard too many sad animal stories lately, anyone have a happy story to share?

Honestly what gives with people. At least the poor thing was found in time and didn't suffocate...Postina's a real cutie :-) Good stories...mmmm...did you hear about the four year old boy who thought he was doing a week old puppy a favor by cleaning it from mud ....uh, in the toilet? He accidentally flushed the toilet----but all was not lost...the puppy was found and was safe..here's a link http://www.nowpublic.com/strange/puppy-flushed-down-toilet-4-year-old-daniel-blair

Poor puppy. At least it was alright. I guess I have my own kitty story. I got my second cat, Carlye from my Vet's office. I was in there to get allergy meds for Ashley, and they had kittens in cage by the door. So there was no hope for me, I wanted a kitten. Well one of the kittens, Dodge, had been found on the Freeway, they named him dodge because he was dodging cars on the freeway. I wanted to adopt him, figured he needed a good home, but he was spoken for so I ended up Carlye. Well, everytime I get a cat, a friend of my feels the need to get one too. So I took her to the vet's office to get a kitten, thought it would be cool for her to get one of Carlye's brothers. But Dodge was still there, seems whoever had wanted him, changed their mind, so my friend adopted Dodge. He is a real sweet cat too.

oh geez.what is wrong with people nowadays? hmm..i wonder if my cousin in boston would like a new kitten.. we had a squirrel put in our mailbox years ago,one of those collection boxes on the street corner up here.it jumped out when the maillady opened it and scared the piss out of her.they removed the box,and we now have to go to the main, thanks to some rotten, cruel kids.

oh-a happy story- there was a cat stuck up in a tree here, and for whatever reason, the fire department would not go rescue it.the owner called the paper in desperation, and as soon as it was printed,a local business with a cherry picker rescued it for free.

The squirrel was kind of funny, though probably not for the squirrel nor the mail lady, and it is too bad not to have a collection box nearby. I use the one on our street a lot. And I am glad someone was nice enough to rescue the kitten out of the tree.

I have a new kitten, his name is Lucky because he is literally lucky to be alive. He was a feral kitten, but he wanted a home so badly. My mother and I domesticated him and he loves his new home and the three other cats I own. He is such a cute cat, and he is so smart. He can turn the most unusual things into toys, and he knows exactly were to sleep, which is on my mom's bed. He knows what the computer is and he idolizes my elder cat, Dubby. He loves being a house cat. He loves having a home and lots of food to eat and having all of the toys that he can play with at his disposal. He is a flame-point Siamese with the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen in my life. I love my Lucky.

I suppose you have to look on the bright side, Aurone, and be thankful that now Postina will surely go to a caring family. It's far better that they placed her in the mailbox rather than taking her for a ride in the country and abandoning her, don't you think?

Probably, and she will get a good home now with the publicity. But they could have just taken her to the Humane Society to begin with. She is a cute kitten. You can see a pic of her if you follow the link.1

you lhave got to be kidding me... some people i just dont understand. i know that the humane society that is in my town, i fyou take your animal in and say it is yours they make you pay for it. not at all cheep. so there are alot of people who just take them in and say they are strays that way they dont have to pay for them. i was driving one night real late and saw 5 little kittens on the side of the road. my husband is not a cat person but he told me to turn around and try to catch them. mind you all i had was a lighter and the headlights.. that was a challenge. i did manage to catch one and of course she was all black the other ones were different colors easier to see. so i guess i was just destined to have the black one. the others got away but i still have the black one her name is midnight. and she is just about 4 years old now. i just wish people would think before they react. i know i know it will never happen that would make this world a better place. i guess that is only in my dreams..lol..

Well, at least you saved one of them and I am sure Midnight is proud to be your kitty. I wish there would come a day when there was no need for a Humane Society, but it ain't gonna happen. So all I can do is my best to help as many kitties as possible while I am alive.

That was nice of you to take it in. At least Snoopie has a good home now. Cats are one of life's most wonderful surprises. They can change your life if you let them. I would have gone crazy by now, if I didn't have mine.

i just heard a story on the radio that a little boy (aged 4) flushed a 9 week old puppy down the toilet in england. i know it was just a kid, but where was the parent? people dont treat animals well, but people dont treat people well either.

Seriously, where was the parent. I read that they puppy was okay and that they are going to let the boy keep it. He said he was sorry, maybe it was a good learning experience for the boy, bad day for the puppy.

That is terrible. I've been hearing bad stories lately too, and it breaks my heart. I have a very large soft spot in my heart for animals. I have a good story for you. My pit bull, Scarlet, found me while I was a grad student in Louisiana. She was only 5 months old and was wandering the streets near the university, when she came upon my roommate walking her flat-coated retriever. The puppy followed them for 2 and a half miles! My roommate yelled and made gestures at her, trying to scare her off, but she just kept following. I got home from class, and my roommate said, "We have a problem." I looked down between our feet, and there was a brown and white puppy with a pink nose that had black freckles on it. She was the cutest puppy I'd ever seen. She instantly melted my heart! I soon found out that she came from a guy down the street that had a bunch of pit bulls chained in his yard. I had a bad feeling he was breeding them and selling them as fighting dogs (that is a HUGE problem in the South). I found out from a neighbor that this particular puppy gets out all the time, and that the owner hoped she would get hit by a car because she was a nuisance to him!! That was all I needed to hear. She was NOT going back there!! Now Scarlet is almost 5 years old, she is a 55-lb, glossy coated, brown and white pit bull. No docked ears, no docked tail. The freckles have all grown together over her nose, so it is now black. She is very intelligent, very sweet, and is by far the greatest dog I have ever been chosen by! She has no fear (she never has!) and is great with other dogs, kids, and even our cat. Okay, well she may be a little scared of the cat when the cat goes into b!tch mode.

I almost went to Grad School at LSU myself. I am originally from Arkansas, so I know only too well about dog fighting. I am glad that the pup found you, and its too bad no one could do anything about that horrible guy. It breaks my heart to hear all the bad stories out there that happens to cats and dogs which is why I support at lot of agencies like the Humane Society, ASCPA, and Alley Cat allies. I donate all the money I make on Mylot to my charities.
