Have you ever cut your finger when you are cutting?

I was cutting the celery on the cutting board and I was thinking about some stuff... My eyes were staring at the knife and celery and knew it was almost the end but I still didn't stop and cut off a piece of fingernail... it was hairy! Have you done that before?

I have definitely done that! Usually it is when I am cutting something and someone says something to me so I turn around and end up slicing my finger! The worst is when you cant get it to stop bleeding so you cant finish what you were doing! Im glad it was just your fingernail and you didnt get seriously injured!

It happen to me a lot of times, i have the tendency to accidentaly cut myself when i was usually assign to peel the veggies while i was in the hurry (i have more accidents occured when i enter college). I usually had cuts on my fingers particularly at my thumb finger but sometimes at my hands which is more serious when i didn't pay attention what i was doing at all (ouch!).

I think everyone who has ever cooked has cut their finger or worse. My daughter is a professional cook and she's always cutting herself! I have scars on my fingers from doing it, too.

Hello mermaidivy, Sometimes it happens. Whenever my mind is thinking about something else (or maybe I can say that I am daydreaming while cutting the stuff), it happens to me. It is not really serious but of course, it hurts

haha.......well i just completed my hotel management this year.......and i am interested in front office so kitchen was something i was not so much interested in.......but since it was a part of my syllabus i had to do it.......i used to hate slicing onion and my professor wanted it to be as thin as paper.......and in that attempt i always used to manage to slice a part of my skin of my finger.....sometimes my fingernail......and sometimes a cut on the finger.....but somehow i managed to cut it properly during my final year and i did not injure myself.......so its an achievement for me now !!!!!

Yes, I've had two incidents! The first one I was cutting carrots. Stupid me, I was using a steak knife. The jagged edge of the knife cut a little slit through the top of my fingernail! Note: It was a Cutco knife. The kind where they're like, "Look, it could cut through rope and through a coin!" Rest assure, I am now convinced that those knives are "strong enough". The second time I was peeling carrots...again! CARROTS! Maybe they're my bad luck vegetable? Anyways, I wasn't paying attention, and I peeled some of my skin off! (My thumb) It would not stop bleeding, and I was going through band-aid to band-aid to band-aid...etc. It's healed into one of those puffy scars. Okay those are my cutting mishaps! Be safe everyone!

Your fingernail was hairy or the situation was? lol. I've done that quite a few times. Luckily my nails are a little long so it was just nail, not actually finger. I don't think I've ever cut myself while chopping anything. Maybe just a tiny slice or something but nothing major. I would probably faint if i did it. No so much from the sight of the blood but just the thought of "i just sliced my skin open with a knife".

Usually just lil cuts on my thumb that don't hurt from cutting things up. Otherwise the only other way I've done it is trying to grate cheese I got into a zone while I was doing it and took a lil chunk of skin off my hand about the size of an eraser. Boy did that hurt like heck!

Yes, I have done a lot of this. I end up thinking about something and can be looking right at the items I'm cutting and BOOM! I cut myself. I can be a bit of a dits at times anyway, so unless i'm focused on what I'm doing I cut myself.

I was cutting a pussywillow stem down to fit in a vase and I remember cutting my finger. and I am one I can't stand blood and I was screaming I almost passed out on the kitchen floor I was scared I needed stiches. I was able to get someone to help me stop the bleeding and calm down. Luckly I didn't need stiches.

hey mermaidivy I cut my finger sometimes, especially when I cut carrot or potato, they're round and hard to control. But fortunately, I cut my fingernail most of the time, thank God I have fingernails :) Have a good day.
