I'M A TEACHER-- so what?

I am taking education in college and most of the time I don't understand it why MOST people would have low regard for teachers. They say this is the only option for brainless students or for the poor ones who don't have enough money for other courses with high tuition fees.. I don't take those as a reason; because for me, teaching is the greatest profession of all, just the privilege of touching lives especially young kids make me fulfilled as a human being.. The future lies on these teachers. Why people won't just respect and understand this profession?

I absolutely respect and praise teachers. Teachers in some third-world countries are usually paid very low salaries. It takes a person who is brave and selfless to take up teaching as a profession. I only have respect and nothing negative towards selfless people who choose to teach to tons of students with a low-paying salary. To add, teachers are very intelligent and educated. If not, how can they teach and instill knowledge in others? Teachers, with their knowledge and intelligence, could have chosen more lucrative and high-paying jobs, but they chose to teach because they want others to learn. For those reasons, I hold teachers in a very high regard and with utmost respect.

It is a difficult job that needs patience and hardwork. I don't underestimate teachers because of them they teach us values and education. Some teachers are only for money they don't teach their students very well but not all teacher are like that. When I'm still studying at high school in public school some teachers in our school are very lazy to teach they want their students to do reporting and some are don't teach new lesson it is the same all over again. I hate those teachers they don't do their jobs very well. This profession needs knowlege, patience and dedication.

Hello cecille!!! I am also a teacher in one way, I teach my cousin daily. Also a year ago I used to teach a brother. Both the home tutions, me going to their home. Besides, Once I have been the teacher in my school too. At that time I had to control the class with 32 small kids. i.e kindergarten level. It was the wonder ful experience of my life. I had done that job for about 2 months. I don't know what is the condition in other countries, but teaching is very much reputed job here. I agree that teaching is one of the greatest profession. And also the most energy taking profession in my opinion. The students may think that the teaching is not hard. But they forget that how well they prepare for the lectures before appearing in the class room. Specially the teachers have greater respect here in our society. Happy mylotting...

being a teacher is a noble profession.a teacher helps in shaping a person's future.teachers stand as second parent to a child.my aunt is a teacher.I can see her hardships of teaching a lot of students living in a far places.a lot of people consider teaching a lowly profession because of the low salary.it might not be rewarding financially, but if it makes you happy, just do it.

Yeah, i'm definitely totally agree with you on this. I see teacher is really a noble profession in the society. What are we today if there is no teacher to teach us? We will be just an uneducated person and will not achieve today's success without teacher to teach and guide us in our school days. Indeed i enjoy teaching too, and i like the sense of satisfaction when the kids learn something from me and gain knowledge. I feel that i'm contributing to the growth of the society and our future's generation. I guess what probably makes people have the thinking that teaching is not a good profession and they do not respect teachers is that because maybe during their schooling days they had bad experience with their teachers or maybe their teachers did not teach them well. Those will make them have the bad impression and also wrong perception on teachers.

Everybody respects teachers in my country. Teachig is a great profession, but it is a truth that it won't pay you much. Teaching has a lot of advantages You get the chance to be with kids throughout your life. It is great! I am jealous of teachers because they get around 2 months of paid vaccation. I am attracted towards teaching profession because of this paid vaccation. I am working for an IT company and i can never get two months or even one month vaccation in my life. The maxium number of days I can take leave at a time is 5 days. Even for that I have to get permission from a lot of people - team lead, project co-ordinator, project manager, team head, and HR person. I respect teachig profession.

You are absolutely right! Teaching is a divine service. To me, it's the most devoted, divine service. It's teachers who decide the future of this fragile planet. My mom is a lecturer in college. I'm so proud of her profession. Next to soldiers, the people I respect the most are teachers!

Taking education is the best profession I know. I don't care what others say about teachers but one thing I know is that they are our second parent in this world after our mother. We must give our full respect to them because they mold us not only in academic aspects but our behavior as well. So keep it up. Don't be bothered but what others are saying. As long as you have the passion to share your knowledge to others especially the youth then be proud and surely they will thank you for the things that you impart to them.

As a person we have different ideas in life. Have them say it and go to what you believe is good and true. Its part of life that there will be one who disagree and agree. I agree with you that the knowledge and ideas of teachers there lies the development of young ones. They believe more to the teachers than parents especially if they are so young of it.

I think teachers are under appreciated! Both by the amount of pay you guys make and how much work that is involved in that profession.. Granted school starts between 7 & 8 o'clock, but most teachers arrive between 6 & 7. School ends between 2 & 3 o'clock but most do not leave until 4 o'clock or later.. Depending on the work that they still have to do.. Teachers are paid by salary, so there is no time card, and sometimes their work even follows them home... This does not include the time that is spent with a student that is having trouble with classwork, or a personal problem.. Teachers do not get bonuses for helping their students, I mean the green back.. A true teachers' greatest reward is to see a student raise to the top, and become great citizens.. Teachers are also the most remembered, you can ask just about anyone, and their is at least one or two teachers that really touched the life of one child.. That's a profession I would love to be in. Anyone that would sit there and try to discredit you from becoming a teacher is just ignorant.

Only few people take education and become a teacher because they thought that like what you said but being a teacher is not just like that. A teacher have a great responsibility. Without teachers there will be no great minds. They are sometimes the key to a child's success. They are the inspirations of their students. Teachers don't just become a teacher just by studying how to become one but also it takes to be dedicated to their profession with all their heart. =D

I'm a teacher also.I'm teaching in a junior high school,I have the same idea with you,it's sure that people think little of this profession, look down on this profession, but we should think lot of ourselves and our profession.Everyone should be thankful to his teachers for his received education, this is greatest respond to us,this is our drive to hold the line.Teaching is a grand profession, like you said:the future lies on these teachers. We should be happy everyday.

i never look down on a teacher... in fact, i think it is the most honorable profession and it should get recognized and respected as a teacher changes many people's lives... the future of a country also depend on teachers... a teacher not only educate a person in terms of knowledge per se, but also their morals, minds and souls... so i really respect all teachers for their hard work and contributions to the country... take care and have a nice day...

I took up education in college... and i was a teacher for like 8 years... and those were 8 fruitful years i would have stayed in the teaching profession but i chose not to because i want to spend more time with my daughter... so i opted for a job that gave me flexible time... There is nothing wrong with being a teacher... since a person maybe the most intelligent one in the world... but there is no assurance that he/she will be an effective teacher...

Teaching is a very noble profession, no doubt. If the teacher is without prejudices and evaluates their students justly, he/she will almost be worshipped. A teacher is paid poorly compared to the others say from the industry or government. Whena society is in its infancy, like ay India was after the British established their rule in India , for instance, and introduced their education system it took one or two generations about 70 years for the Indians to understand and adapt to the system. That is when the teachers were in highest demandn and only the best could and would opt for teaching. But as time passed and the new avocations born out of education came up teaching lost the sheen. On a comparative basis teaching became an underpais job for earnings are directly related to the contribution one makes to the "kitty". Since a teacher's services are only an investment in the future of a country or society people would pay lip service or shw great respect and regard only to forget them soon after they leave school or university. But even today an inspiring teachers can change lives. That is no mean achievement. They can transform a student's life by example.

I am not sure where you live, but here in the US, teachers are very much respected and admired for the work they do. One definitely has to have smarts and a good education to teach, so I've never heard it referred to as a brainless job.
