Do you blame yourself for the mistake you should not have made?

feel guilty for the mistake I have made - I always feel guilty for the mistake that I have ever made and blame myself for it.

I hate myself for being so careless for typing a wrong or mis-spelled word that is not supposed to have happened. In the previous discussion that I posted about an hour ago, I did not notice the mistake until it was already posted. I should have checked it more than once before posting it. This way I could have found the wrong word without typing "youself" in the title, but "yourself". I am sighing for it! I am blaming myself as well. Now I don't feel good about the mistake I made. I even feel guilty for it when I have to face it again and again. So my dear friends, what do you think about the mis-spelled word you have ever made? Do you blame yourself for it? I do blame myself a lot for it. I must manage to be more careful from now on to avoid making such a mistake again while posting a new discussion. Take care, my dear friends.

I will blame myself of making the mistake for a short period of time but I will let go of it pretty soon. We are humans and humans make mistake. The question is not whether we make mistakes but whether we make the same mistakes again and again. So, I will try to analyse for the reason of making the mistakes and remember not to do it in the future. Above all, we made mistakes so that we learn what not to do.

Hello again, friend. Yes, I have found it that some people do not find the reason why they make the mistake, but find fault or blame the others for it. I think that we do like this, it will not make us get improved. Thank you, friend. Have a good day.

Yes, it is important but then people nowadays tend to just blame rather than to take responsibility. Whenever there are problems, people first consider it is others doing bad rather than asking themselves if they really have done nothing wrong.

I always feel very shameful whenever I commit any mistake whether typing or any other mistake. Just to avoid this situation, I check before submitting the same. But sometimes, beyond our control, either due to lack of time or fatigue, we do commit mistake. Sometime back, I sent a translated project and there was a spelling mistake. Instead of the word whole, I typed whol and left out e. Or probably I typed but due to the speed the key was not pressed properly. Even space mistake also will occur. The project itself was rejected stating that there is spelling mistake. I felt very sad. I think I am very sensitive.

Morning, Buchi_bulla. It is a pity that the project itself was rejected because of the spelling mistakes. So it is wise for us all to be more careful in our work. Like you said, I also checked my discussion before submitting it, but it just slipped by without my noticing it in the title. That is why I felt so bad when discovering it after being posted. Now I am feeling better as many of you can understand that it is sometime beyond our control due to certain reasons. Anyway, I will try my best not to make the same mistake again. Take care and have a good day.

Hi William, Yes, I do blame myself for the spelling mistakes I commit, especially when it is due to negligence; after all, it feels nice and boosts your self-esteem even if only a little, to assume responsibility when you have erred and consider it an opportunity to learn and smarten up. But what I avoid doing to the most is dwelling on those embarrassing errors and aggravating things till they loom so large as to become hard to detach oneself of.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I know it's been four days since you put this discussion up, but I think you are feeling bad without reason. Typos are common and one shouldn't blame anybody but the darn keyboard for that. And you blame so much for a small spelling mistake?? C'mon you are better than that.. It's ok to make mistakes. That's how we learn, don't we? bourne

Hi jisir, it’s quite common to make typo errors here now and then. So just take it easy! What’s more the error made is just a super tiny one, right? If you don’t tell us here I even don’t notice it at all When I was a newbie here I did have such feeling after knowing I had made a typo error. Yeah, just like one of my old discussions here I had started earlier. I did blame myself for the careless typo mistake made. I typed “girf” instead of “gift” carelessly. This happened to occur on the title of that discussion then. The wrong spelling word looked so conspicuous on the title of that discussion. It made me to feel ashamed while discovering the mistake made. So I started another discussion soon to explain the careless mistake I had done. I don’t blame myself anymore if I have done such typo mistake nowadays. Firstly I know no matter how careful we are, we might make such mistake as well. And I know that every user here is more interested in the content of a discussion, but not the spelling of the words, as long as we understand what the creator of the discussion are going to share with others here. Of course we have to check the spelling before submitting every post we have written. But the main purpose here is to have fun relaxingly and happily. Why not we enjoy sharing our feeling and views on those interesting topics with our mylotter friends here heartily? Try not to worry much about the tiny typo errors we have made my dear! I believe every mylotter user here is equal in status, and there is no difference between a teacher and a student, or a professional person and an ordinary person as long as the possibility of making mistake is concerned. Happy posting and have a sweet summer vacation.

Thanks for the compliment jisir. I believe without worrying about the typo errors as well as the minor grammar mistakes made here every now and then, we will always in happy mood to enjoy typing posts here for sure Moreover most of us here always seize as much time as we could to write posts here. Mistake will occur easily and inevitable when we are typing in a rush for sure. It’s December now and I suppose you are enjoying your winter holidays with your family in your hometown at present. Yeah, six months before, the weather in your place was scorching hot whereas now it’s freezing cold. Here we have more rainfall by the end of the year. And this makes the weather rather cold and I love it. Thanks for marking mine as the best one Take care and happy posting

Hello lkbooi. We still have one month to work on campus. We are told to have the winter vacation in early February. Right now it is very cold, but I am happy to have got a very nice heater which saves a lot of electricity. It costs only one kilowatt per ten hours. It is a heater warming the feet. I like it very much.

Hello lkbooi. Thank you so much for the nice response. Yes, I am now feeling much better since it is so common for any of us to make some typo errors here and there, however professional one is. Right now I am enjoying my sweet summer vacation at home in my hometown. I am spending much time with my family without having so much time mylotting as often as I used to at school. It is so relaxing at home though it is really too hot in this summer. I wish it to rain as often as possible to cool the hot summer. Take care and stay cool, my dear friend.

I see no reason to feel anything when you make a mistake. We all do when our fingers hit the wrong key and it is human error. Sometimes I get tired of people complaining about the proper word usage or spelling or whatever. Why does it matter when you think of all the places that the people are coming from who write on here? I don't like to misspell words.....and don't know how to spell mispell!!..and try to correct when I do. I even do that in chat!!

"Guilty?" For a typo? Heavens to betsy, you must lead a very sheltered life! In here, or almost anywhere these days, one finds typos aplenty! I try, but if one gets past me now & then, I won't lose any sleep worrying about it. So nah, don't sweat it. If this is the worst thing you do, please save me a spot on a cloud when you get to heaven...if I can get there! Maggiepie

One last thought on this. I'm slightly dyslexic, so no matter how hard I try, some typos are just going to get past me, no matter what! So give yourself a break. Maybe you have a touch of dyslexia, also, or maybe your eyes just get tired. I know mine do sometimes, & like someone else here, I catch the typos JUST AFTER I've posted them! ARGH! Better to smile at the fact that we're all human & all make mistakes. Otherwise, erasers would never have been invented, right? Maggiepie

Hello my friend sir Ji, I too commit such mistakes many times and I do repent for them. In fact, myLot has already provided an option by 'preview response', but I am so much in hurry that I seldom do that way. But if mistake has been committed, you have found out best way to confess and at the same time alert others in noble way. Thanks. May God bless you and have a great time.

Hello williamjisir, I always try to avoid mistakes but even after that it takes place sometimes. And mistakes like that once get committed brings a feeling of guilt as you stated. But sometimes there is no way to rectify it. As I got a photo twice mistakenly which I should have avoided at any cost. But that was unintentional. I regret it very much. However, these mistakes do one thing good. They makes us more cautious in future actions. To me, it is bad, to commit the mistake and not to try to avoid them which I think we seldom do. But as English is not my native language, sometimes I feel difficulty to express as like to do. It may in some cases convey a meaning that was not intended. In such cases I have no way to rectify until someone points it to me like a true friend. Happy lotting, sir

Yes, always think twice before you take a decision and think for more than 10 times if you are about to take a critical decision. Yes, if I have commited a mistake, I would always blame for that as I am the sole reason for commiting any mistakes. I always blame myself for my failures and take pride for my success.

Yes we all make mistakes. I made a lot of errors when I first started posting here, before I realised that you can't edit. I don't recall ever being on a site where you can't edit your own words before - no that's wrong because you can't do that if you comment on blog posts. Oh well. Now I usually proof read carefully, but if I'm in a hurry or feeling very passionate about whatever it is I'm writing about, I forget, and then the mistakes still creep in. To err is human, you know.

I was definitely like this Williamjisir , initially and used to feel miserable after a slip, a typo, a mispelt word where I knew the spelling but in my hurry to post I had overlooked something. One comment from my valued fried 'Perspectives' put a stop to this once for all.She just said' what is a typo or two between friends Kala?' After that I just stopped worrying.Initially I used to type out the responses in MS word and copy paste it but now I have stoppedit. However, if there is some mistake Even aftr I have read through what I ahve written[an oversight] I have stopped fretting. Our friends would not bother about all this. It is only for own sake. THere is no need to feel guilty or worry too much. Now i am quite convinced about it. But, this is valid for responses. I take a lot of care before posting discussion topics and would cerrtainly feel bad.Once there was no proper space between words and I did feel odd.

Hello Shirley. It is human to make mistakes. I thank you so much for the response. Take care.

Probably can't add much to the previous responses, maybe it would be an idea to use the "preview response" button each time before you post? But really, there is no point in hitting yourself over the hit for making mistakes, just aim to improve for the next time. I would guess that maybe you're a shy person, a little introverted, which I tend to be. Psychologically us introverts tend to be a lot more self critical, so I know it is difficult to "get over it"! All the best, Sir William!

A lot of people experiences the same thing! Especially people like me who doesn't even memorized the keyboard. Actually I am being really really careful while typing this response just so I will not dissapoint you because you might feel bad again after seeing mispelled words. Anyway try not to take everything seriously. It is just a type written word, the important thing is the fact that other people can still understand your point. We are free to do what we want as long as we are honest and persevere in giving our best in the discussions. As a mylotter like you I recommend try to take things as a new "eeeh? I've done something like this again?" A cute phrase like that can change things for the better. Love lots mylotter, I consider this discussion somewhat cliche ( or a childish thought like mine)but still it is admirable for you to share it with us. Thank you, keep it up!

Hi there! Why hate yourself for the mispelled word? Mispelled word is called typographical error and it happens all the time, even to the best writer in the world. Sometimes it happens too if you have another view that you can't express well, right? But the thing is hating yourself wont't do much good and it would mean that you would be deficient with self confidence the next time. Instead think of what is done has been done and the next is to correct that wrong, be keen and slow, then check again!
