Do you use same nickname/username in all the forums you signup? Or do you keep changing the name for different forums?

No. While I used to be kind of careless about it, I've started creating unique usernames for each website that I join. Cyber-stalkers are very, very real -- it could be an old lover, a business competitor, an ex-partner, a disgruntled customer, or anybody, really. If you use the same username online, it's so very easy to track you -- especially if you post public comments like these. Today, even everyday people have access to 'deep web' searches, that can go through and find information about you that isn't available through search engines. For a few bucks, people can hire an online investigator and dig up dirt on you that you don't want anybody to know about... Creating a unique username doesn't even imply anonymity, but it does give you reasonable protection against the unsavvy internet user who is trying to check up on you. You can never be too careful.

I don't use the same nickname in all the forums. I like to keep those that are personal and businesses separate, so that I could right away know which message is coming for which activity.

So separate username for personal accounts and another username for all the business accounts. Nice and yes it helps us know from where exactly the emails are coming. How about having separate email ID's too, it would be a better idea and makes the management of emails even more easier. What do you think?

It's for me to get out of the habit since I've been using Jimeous as a nickname since 1996. On occassion I will use a different username, mostly when Jimeous has been taken.

Nice to hear your opinion. I basically try to create different names at least for the forums where we discuss. I think this way we get more freedom to develop the personalty of the avatar one is creating for that nick in the forum. It actually makes us bit more confidential about ourselves. I mean, you wouldn't want to actually let other members see your nick in other forums and know where all you post things. And once again thanks for letting us know your thoughts.

hey lenvor Yes, I use same nickname in every forums. I joined a lot of forum if I use different username I think it's hard to recall sometimes and I don't wanna write them down somewhere, so I think single one username is the best choice. Have a nice day.

Yes having a single username is definitely more memorable than having dozen or so nicks in different forums. I have see some even use the same nick on their personal websites. Its basically the matter of personal confidentialty. Isn't it?

I use the same username every time if I can. There are logical reasons, i.e. easier to remember, but also because I love my username, it has a special meaning to me. Corny, I know.

I try to use the same user name or nickname for every website I sign up for. That helps to keep things less complicated. I'll never forget my info for websites this way.

I do that too. However, I have decided to change my nickname because this one has become very boring. Cheers!!
