Have you ever seen a magic show? Used to be a lot more popular in the past. My uncle was a magician with the USO and entertained the troops with magic shows. I remember that he used to perform the trick where he would saw my aunt in half. He used to say that magicians would never tell their secrets. When we were kids we would beg him to show us a magic trick. He would always do the one where he would magically pull a coin out of your ear. I miss those days. They were so much fun and so entertaining. My uncle was very talented in what he did.

Doug Henning - Illustration I did of Mr Henning to accompany a review of his show in 1977.
I saw Doug Henning in Vancouver in 1977. It was so-so, and afterwards he started talking about transcendental meditation...

I love magic shows. They are really amazing to watch.Even though they are mere tricks, magic involves more physics and chemistry. You are lucky to have a magic uncle.I have seen magic like vanishing a coin from the closed fists and getting it back from somebody's pocket. Also cutting a girl into two and then fusing together is also a mind blowing magic to witness. Some even vanish a car infront of the audience and bring it back.I really wonder how they do it.Cheers!

I stay in India and a very famous magician named P.C. Chandra is known to have disappear the world's wonder- The Taj Mahal for 5 minutes. We have been to watch his shows. One thing I can never forget, since I saw that happening in front of my eyes was that the time was actually somewhat 5 or 6 in the eve. He said evrybody to look at our wrist watches and it was 2.30. It was really amazing, since the time changed in everyone's watch. I have been to some other shows as well of some other magicians and they also have shown us some really wonderful magics, but those we know are actually tricks. The ones that P.C. Chandra shows are actually magic. I know it's impossible to believe but since it happened with me I think he has really some magical powers.

There are alot of storys about very talented magicians, past and present. One of the better know magicians of the past was Doug Henning. He was the first to bring magic to to television. This made him very popular. His appearences on T.V. paved the way for others like Chris Angel, David Blain, and David Copperfield. Doug did an outstanding illusion where he levitated an assistant on nothing more than the tiny streams of water from a small fountain. Doug Henning passed away a couple years back. Not sure why exactly, but I think he may have been sick. He contributed greatly to the field of magic. He donated tons of his money to charity and mentored countless young magicians. He will be missed by all of us magicians. I wonder how he made that assistant float...........?

I am a magician and I enjoy too performing for people. Yes we do not tell secrets because if we do the magic would be lost. However there would be times that we would be telling it especially to those who are willing to learn and to keep the secrets at the same time. It's nice when people appreciate your magic and we are very happy that our work is appreciated.
