this happened twice to my laptop already. i wan infected with a deadly kind of virus which attacked my computer's start-up system. You have no other recourse but to have your pc reformatted to be able to remove completely the virus. Don't do it yourself. Bring it to your pc technician. After it is reformatted, you also have to install a very reliable anti-virus program. In my case i was advised to switch from norton to avg or mc aafe. I hope i am of help to you. And remember also not to open .exe files unless you know where it come from. Good luck!

i finally found the solution for the problem.. it's happen because i upgrade my xp with sp3. sp3 makes my computer continues restarting after the computer is turn off. i don't really know about what is really wrong about that service pack, but i find the answer from microsoft help and support site. if anybody else have same problem like me, maybe you can try to find the answer from that site. thanks for everybody who have responded, help and give advice to me...

Is the computer starting up after it is turned off? If that is the case, it is most likely hardware related, such as bad power switch, motherboard, or power supply. My money would be on the power switch. If you have the time and willing pick up some cheap equipment I can tell you what to do or you can take it to a technician.

Oh no, this happened to our pc before but we got it fixed already now. Hmm, I think you should back-up your files now so that you can have it reformatted by a professional already.. Goodluck!

Did your computer update itself just before you shut it down? Sometimes windows requires a shut down or reboot for finishing updates. It's quite common actually and you don 't have to reformat the whole computer. There are some really great programs to keep viruses away. I suggest you use those before reformating.

Might be an infection but it can be some hardware issue as well. I would recommend you to show your CPU to a technician. Actually, there are higher chances of getting infected as the symptoms shows.
