Is it really bad to sleep with a full stomach?

Before, my mom always told me to stay awake for like 30 to 1 hr before going to bed. She'd always tell me that if I fall sleep, I get nightmares and might not wake up. That I might get a heart attack or something. Is it really true?

It's really not a good idea to go to sleep right after eating. The main reason is your body uses sleep to recuperate and repair your body. You burden this nightly process when you give it the task of digesting food on top of this. In order to digest, the stomach needs a considerable amount of blood, blood that could be used for repairing and restoration. This is why some health professionals and some "folk medics" suggest to wait up to 3 hours after you had your last meal to hit the sack; or don't eat anything after 6:00 p.m.

There are many times where I go to bed on an full stomach because I work late so I am usually hungry when I get home. This used to fill me up at night, but now, even though I eat before I go to bed (stay up a little while so that some of the food can digest), I wake up hungry in my sleep. If I don't eat when I go to bed, when I wake up, I will have the biggest appetite, and can't stop eating

Well I don't know about it causing heart attacks in your sleep. I have had a heart attack and it happened while I was wide awake. :) I know that when I go to bed on a full stomach I toss and turn most of the night and don't get a good sleep at all. But I can't go to bed on an empty stomach as that keeps me awake too. And if my stomach is growling it keeps my wife awake too. I think sleep on a full stomach could cause weight gain though as you are not getting any exercise, other than tossing and turning, while you are digesting that full stomach.

hii dear friend..nice to meet you here..Yeah i agree with your words..It is really bad to sleep with the full stomach..We must need some walking after eating food..We must be wait for atleast half an hour after eating food..So that the food will digest and them we must sleep..We must be carefull with our health..Really health is more important than the other..I will be very carefull with my health..I will maintain exact diet.So that i am healthy now..If we sleep immediately after eating food the fat content in our body will be increase and there is a chance of the heart attacks so that we must be carefull..I will also gives advices to all of my friends and realatives that to take care fo health..Happy mylotting dear friend..have a nice day...keep smiling..

im not sure of how true that claim is, but i can say that i've heard sleeping with a full stomach isnt too good for you. your food might not digest properly and ive heard that sleeping with a full stomach makes you gain weight...

They say then when you sleep, there's a chance that some of the food may come back up a bit. Although it's probably not enough to wake you up, you could be left with a sore throat or feeling rather tired in the morning.

Hi, I'm not sure about a heart attack or something like that. However, I have often slept well with a full stomach; it's only when I go to sleep hungry that I have to wake up in the middle of the night and eat.
