Liar! Liar!

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I rode a bus from the city to our province in Laguna... In the Philippines, when you ride a bus, a conductor will give you a ticket and you have to pay directly to him, cause the fare would depend on where to get in and where you'll get out. So we rode the bus, we were seated next to a young woman about our age.. When the conductor goes around the bus, we paid our fare, but the woman seated next to us didn't, so we just assumed that she already paid before we even got on the bus. After a few minutes, the young conductor walks around the bus asking people if they have already paid, apparently, he was still lacking one person.. so he asked the girl, and then she said, she has not paid yet.. she told him her destination, and she said that she only rode the bus on the last stop.. which was I guess 2 stops after ours! she was trying to lie in order to pay less! the conductor asked her again, if she was sure that she only rode on that stop, and she said yes, I think all four of us ( the girl, the conductor, my boyfriend and I ) knew she was lying, but no one said anything. He let her pay, and he walks off. I wanted to say that she's lying, cause she was already on the bus when we rode it.. but I didn't. Now I feel guilty, because I let her get away with it. She was lying, I knew she was lying trying to fool the poor guy, but I didn't do anything..

It is too bad that the young lady lied, I hope it was for a good reason, like she needed the money for something important like food. I hope she realizes how lucky she was because next time she might not be so lucky. Please do not feel so bad, whatever she pay for her actual destination or should I say from her actual departure or not, the bus would have traveled the same route anyways.

That's what I keep telling myself.. that maybe she really needs the money or something.. Oh well, I just hope she won't do it again.

I hope so too, I have come to learn that what we have in life it is our honesty and our word, if we lie we lose our reputation and for what? money? I hope she learns something without being embarrassed in the future.

Yes,she is lying based on your story.Anyone of you should stop the lying but no one of you do that.Maybe it is her day and maybe one day someone will caught her lying.Don't be so sad.It is her lucky today but not for forever.Thank you and have a nice day.

That was thick. I would like to say that I would have told on her but thinking more about it, I believe I would have shut myself up too. I wouldn't want any trouble in that kind of situation because the girl might be mentally unstable or she might put some guys on me for telling on her - she might be a part of a frat or a relative of a frat members. Those things aren't uncommon in the Philippines and it's amazing who you encounter has "connections". I am pretty impressed that she was confident that other passengers who clearly know she was lying wouldn't make a commotion out of her lies. I guess she does it often and knows that we would rather not get ourselves involved in such matters. Thanks for the response on my discussion :)

Just let it be..at least she pay the fare although less than she should. Look on the other side, maybe she is trying to save money. If it happen to me, I think it is a small matter. Not really worth my interference. No offense but that what I think.
