Wouldn't it seem like we stepped back into the dark ages if we woke up one day to find no Internet? I have been using the internet since be browsers were even available back in the mid 90s. What would your reaction be if the internet just stopped working today?

Oh God....I wouldn't even want to think about it. I mean can you imagine what would really happen. It would stop everything in the world and nothing would be working or able to. I would be totally lost if the internet disappeared becasue it has come to play such an important part in my life that it would really be like losing a member of my family. flutterby

It would be quite a shock to the world, both business and personal. We would have to start using Carrier Pigeons for messaging.

Oh My Gosh WebMann...the poor things would simply die of exhaustion. They would have to put up telegraph poles beside the telephone pokes to handle all the messages going out becasue the phone system would get locked up tight with all the calls coming and going at once. It would be so much worse than it is on a holiday now when you can't get through because all circuits are busy ! flutterby

Hi WebMann, I agree with you that we will be in darkness without Internet. Internet has been a daily activity in ones life. In today's life, an individual start and end their day in this magnificant world of IT. People have been connected throughout the world sharing information and ideas. Power loss for 15 minutes can get on my nerves. It feels numb to think of loosing Internet overnight and forever!

My son has had internet as long as he can remember. Well I took up playing guitar at age 47 so if the power does go out for a little while I can pick up my guitar and play until the power comes back on. I play about 2 hours a day anyways. It would be rough for a while I am sure.

Wow, you play guitar too! It's cool. Unfortunately, there is no one to play an instrument here with me. But I play Sitar, and never played when power is off! Thank you for sharing good information as now I can think of playing it and entertain my husband.

Hi Webmann!! I am ready for that then.. I always expect the unexpected. Without internet I can live...I will read books then, listen to music and will keep myself busy with my family and friends... Its true,we do ignore our family sometimes because of this internet....

I'm with you there. We do tend to spend less quality time with our family and friends because of the internet. I am not so bad now but before my heart attack I was certainly a workaholic and spent day and night working on the net. I have mellowed a bit now and even get more done in less time. I also only work 5 days a week now and only work 7 hour days. The big thing is that I take the weekends off now. Although I come into my office and do check my email. I even respond if I don't have other plans, like fishing or gardening or guitar playing or... I have lots of hobbies that keep me busy outside my office now.

I think life without internet, is terrible because almost everything need internet to connect to each other. Internet makes our life easier and faster. Besides that, we are able to connect with each other no matter where we are, as long as we had connect our laptop with wireless broadband. Even most of us, are able to earn some extra income through internet. So, internet is still important to our modern life. I totally feel, that life really can't goes well without the internet..

Isn't it amazing how much we have come to depend on the internet for so many things in our daily lives.

Yes, internet indeed can makes the world looks great and exciting. Even my father who's aged nearly 70 years old, also felt excited learning this new way of communication. He admired and treasured it a lot....

that would certainly be horrific. in fact, whenever i go out of town and could not connect to the internet to check on my mails and browse, i find myself fidgety, i guess thats a form of withdrawal syndrome.

Ha, I know that feeling. I have been pretty good lately but a year or two ago I would have had withdrawal symptoms as well. Now I can go fishing for the entire day or stay out in our backyard gardening for the day and I do fine. But I think it's because now when I am out I am gathering more new content for my blogs. That certainly helps keep the mind happy while away from the net.

I think if we were all honest we would be in the same boat and none of us would be happy about it. Our life on the internet is only just getting started. My wife retires in less than 3 years and we plan to start traveling and blogging about what we do. It would be a real let down after all the planning and dreams we have. :)

I think it would really put a kink into my online business and that's all I have. I don't work outside the home any more so I would be pretty depressed until I started something else. But I am not worried about that ever happening. :)

I don't know. I start thinking about all changes in my life with Internet. I try to remember about my day schedule before Internet age. I did ride my bike more often, I spent more time in local library, I spent more time with my friends, I travel more.........hmmm....maybe I should take a time off from Internet....???

I spent the first half of my life working hard labor jobs because I quit school in grade nine and have no real education. But once I learned about computers I was addicted and learned so much that I quit my hard working job and took up computer training. I went from breaking my back every day to sitting on my behind all the time so I put on a pile of weight. Now if the internet disappeared over night I guess I would still be teaching computer hardware and software. Now if if the computer age stopped for any reason I would be in need of a lot of exercise to get back into shape enough to work at those hard labor jobs. :)

I prefer to be online rather than to spend time watching the TV but maybe when the internet disappeared TV would disappear as well. Then we would actually have to get outdoors and do things. Oh No!!! :) Well let's just hope we are never put in that situation.

I would be in real trouble. I'd loose a fortune (wishful thinking!) through being unable to work. I would be out of touch with my family and friends, as our post office is a joke and this is the only real means of communication. I wouldn't know what was going on in the world around me, aside from what I could pick up from the televisions news. I t would feel like loosing a limb.

I would take a long time, I think, to get over not having a computer and internet. :) I would likely be cranky for about 2 years.
