An email conversation with someone at Helium

I noticed a problem with an article of mine that I brought to the attention of Helium. I believe I was quite clear on the problem and even sent them a screen shot of the problem. I'm going to give Jane the benefit of the doubt and call it a Monday thing. Here is the conversation that made for a great blog. http://kickshawcandies.blogspot.com/

Great poem. At first I was a little confused as to what you were talking about until I scrolled down. Then I saw what you were talking about. Maybe next email, you can mention that "Jane" should scroll down. That is really weird. That poem listed as #1 should in fact be #14 on the lists. Have you tried emailing the Channel Steward along with the help people? http://www.helium.com/users/376251 She is the new channel steward for the creative writing section. I will have to check my articles as well. I only have one article that has that much competition and I know that it is definitely not number one. Good luck in getting this resolved.

Thanks. The link you sent says she is the society and lifestyle steward. I wanted to check with you to make sure that's who you meant. I did tell Jane to scroll down. I think Jane opened the screen shot without reading the email. Even though, looking at the screen shot should have clued her in.

Jane just sent an update. I think she's finally got it. LOL She believes it to be a technical problem and I will be contacting them.

I went into the forums to find the channel steward. I do hope you get a response from the technical guys soon though.

Did you ever get this resolved? I wonder how the transition to the "new" Helium will turn out, whether there will be a lot of snafus, since they are changing the rules about writing and payment. Someone said they are splitting up titles as well. All that change could lead to more of this kind of problem in the future. Congrats on your number 1 poem!

Well, I'm not number one anymore but that's all right. I won't be leap frogging as my poem is the best it can be. It does irk me that some of the poems ahead of mine have spelling errors and some are just painful to read. Some just go on and on and on. A lot of the raters have this illusion the longer a poem is the better. This is often not the case. I don't rate poems myself. I admit it is because of bias on my part and to be fair to others I choose to not rate. I think they fixed it but who knows.

You know, I had a couple similar experiences in the past year where I reported something and the person at the other end sent me back some crazy message and I had to re-explain the situation. It's like that episode of Frasier when Martin tries to give back the money he got through a bank error and everyone keeps trying to go through the electronic banking menu and standard routine instead of just resolving the problem, which really isn't an acutal problem. Nobody listens anymore, people just react or worse, they go through the standard script response without attempting to address any resolution of any problem. Do they all just think we will give up when we get frustrated and go away?
