How do you enjoy life without spending money?

I find out and many have experience that money cannot buy happiness. But, many rich people think of it the other way around. Many believe that plenty of pleasure is available if you have money. You feel powerful and you can influence other people decision. But, in other stories I learn that some rich people die miserable, despite of luxury. Do they still know to be calm and relax, just what other normal people do? I learn now days that you can be happy and enjoy life through simple things. I learn to appreciate the gift of life, the beauty of nature, stroll in the parks, watching the sunshine, flowers and feel the rain, airs, appreciate music and go with my family spending little money. I may not be totally happy, but at least I become contented on what I have, I have learn to laugh and play. Do you belong to this groups or you were like the problematic, over driven, too ambitious that you forget to be happy? Could you cite an activities were you are happy without spending money?

That is easy!!! I like taking walks through the local state and national parks, take along a picnic, even some fishing gear. Many museums are free to enter. If you live near where they film tv shows with live audiences, tickets are free. There are places that have free movie viewings. One of our parks has "Movies by Moonlight in the Park" every Wed. in the summer There is so much out there and with the internet, you can find plenty. Here are some links for you.... http://www.free-attractions.com/ http://www.thesimpledollar.com/2008/07/17/100-things-to-do-during-a-money-free-weekend/ http://www.rd.com/advice-and-know-how/bargain-vacations/article75997.html

Many times people will say that they do not go on vacations because they cannot afford to go, so they will stay home on their time off and spend money on going to local places. When we were young, and my parents had little money, we would borrow camping equipment. There are state and government owned parks that are so low cost to rent a spot to place your tent. You do not even need expensive equipment. Old pots, pans, dishes and utensils that you have or find at yard sales, flea markets and thrift shops, or even on freecycle site, a blow up mattress used for pools and some old bedding for the beds, tents are inexpensive these days and can be used over and over, again, I found a great one for $2 on line on a cheapcycle site. You do not need expensive Coleman stoves, just a low cost barbeque or use the fire pit and learn to cook in a camp fire (really easy with aluminum foil!). If you stay near a lake, there is swimming, boating and fishing. Also hiking. There are usually many inexpensive or no cost things to see in most areas that you visit. We used to have wonderful vacations and I never thought that we were given the short end of the stick, that we enjoyed our vacations and, even though by necessity, we had to go low cost, but it was a joy and great memories. We spent a lot of money on a month-long trip to Italy last year, but we did work out some lower cost alternatives, so this year we will be spending two weeks with a cousins in a house in Maine. There were times we could not afford to stay somewhere so we visited friends or family in another state. Not only did we have a good time at lower cost, we had a ball spending time with loved ones. When we travel and have little money, we do not eat out a lot, and if we do, find low cost alternatives. We did that in Italy. Four of us shared vacation rental apartments, so we did most of our eating in the apartment or packed food to bring along. When we did eat out, we went more where the locals ate, rather than fancy restaurants. We did one mid-range fancy restaurant per week, so we could enjoy the luxury, but not the most expensive. Food was good no matter where we ate. One of the weeks we stayed with cousins in Palermo and they fed us the entire time and even took us around in their cars. That week cost us very little. There is so much information in books and on the internet about going places at little or no cost, there is never an excuse to sit home and be bored, unless you enjoy sitting home!!

I am glad that you have plenty of free ideas to share and you even mention some activities which are worth to ponder. Public parks and museums are very good places to unwind and bring family along with you. They will surely make you happy and for people to know it. They will be glad and will try to go, especially if the place is near to them. They will no longer commute or spend a dollar to visit it.

You ideas are excellent and you plan ahead on a budget and only spend exactly what is needed, not in excessive but enough to satisfy your entire family in any events which you are willingly participate. These tips and strategies to make use of free time and be creative as in taking a vacation is a worthwhile ideas. I am glad that many people know to be happy without spending money or spending less on things that can make herself happy. You are so lucky to have a nice family and friends who are willing to treat you, whether it is simply eating from a restaurant or fast food or give you monetary gifts. You also know to enjoy life through family bonding, sharing true friendship and learning to share things which do not necessary cost you trouble. Some activities which are very free and rewarding Hopefully, every member of your family cooperate well and realize that real happiness is what we feel inside our hearts.

money isn't everything but it does make life easier and better in some areas. but it can't buy you happiness. you have to make yourself happy or just let yourself be happy. money can't do that for you. simple things in life are usually some of the best. like taking a walk in the park or on the beach. you don't need money for that.. being with family and friends is good enough.

Money is relevant to survive and it makes one life more comfortable and secure. It is one reasons why we work to provide us with money to buy the things we need. It can helps our self and also the family. It can makes a person life improves or at worst bring misery. The activities you mention are a real source of joy and no amount of money can equal it. Spending precious time with family and friends is one way of relaxing and calming our mind and body.

Most of the activities I really enjoy dont cost anything. I like to read and if I cant afford books there's always the library. I like to walk on the beach and thats only 5 mins away. I like to draw and pencil and paper costs very little! and last but not least I like to spend time with family and friends. I know people who are rich, and they enjoy life but it's not because they have money, it's because they are, like you say 'content'.

The activities you mention makes you happy without spending money and if happen you need to spend it cost little. Many rich people spend money in things that are not worthy. They tend to forget to help the marginalized sectors of the society who are in dire need of help. Yes, it is their money and some say who cares? because, it is their money and nobody can dictate them on what things should avoid and never waste money. Anyway, they are rich who were generous and have establish their own foundation or donate money to charities.

You're lucky as long as they stay on your side and you can assist you in times of need. But, you have to prepare yourself, in case they are no longer beside you. Could you still expect yourself to be happy? I myself do not like to be dependent on my loved ones. Sometimes they are so busy with their own problems and other matter. I am starting to discipline myself to take any worries and problem solve by me. As long as it will not drive me crazy. As much as possible. I like to remedy it by myself.

Money can buy you happiness in terms of material like purchase of products and services. You use it to pay your bills, paying the tuition fees, loans and mortgages. But, you can be happy if you know an activities where you can enjoy without spending or spending little money. If you are creative person and know these kind of activities. You will be less affected and troubles of having too much money and getting tired of getting it. Thinking too much of money will make you a slave of it. If you always depend your happiness to things that money can buy. Then, you do not know to enjoy life, such as the free things which surrounds you. Haven't little ideas as of now?

I understand what you are saying totally. Lately, i have noticed that people just throw money away, especially if they have money. Many people do not care about what they have, i have heard it said "well, we will just buy another one". Heck, they didn't take care of the first one! They don't take the time to actually enjoy life. They stay cooped up in a house, or run cross country from one house to another, and don't have the time to actually enjoy either of the houses. Too busy running to nothing. Well, i thought i wanted a lake house..now, i know why i would not own a lake house. After taking just a little time, and looking around, nope, would not have one. Too dangerous. I have seen things at the lake that i would not want to live with. However, i do enjoy going fishing, so an occasional trip to the lake works out just fine for me, while i live in a higher and drier area.

You are so lucky to have friendly neighbors. Surely spending time with them and joining activities is never been dull and the more who join, the merrier. Stay happy, enjoy simple things, enjoy company of friends, be creative and share the joy you get from your fellow neighbors. Stay active and you will see your pass the days without boring moments. Enjoy nature at it best!

hmm it really depends on what you view as 'enjoy life'. for me, enjoying life means spending time with my loved ones. it also means eating nice tasting food. mind you these food doesn't have to use expensive ingredients. these food are more often than not cheap in my region. it is nice tasting because the cook enjoys cooking and puts in a lot of effort in doing so. i also enjoy cooking for my loved ones and watch them wolf down my efforts. it really makes me feel good and all my efforts are well worth it.

Such activities is better and it enhance one's ability to cook food that are appealing both to you and to your family. You will be appreciate and it will make you more happy, contented with simplicity and the joy of cooking as experience by you is amazing.

Happiness comes in a different definition and it is more understand by the person who know how to handle it. You like to make up of your times by drawing, or reading. A great way to exercise our mind mentally and with logical reasoning. It will make you more alert and improves you cognitive reasoning and ability to interpret what you reading. By this means, you derive happiness and will be able to share it with your listeners as well.

Happiness is immeasurable and family is unique. Enjoying life comes in many forms and it tell undying stories of life success and failures. But, with a family around you to inspire is like a pieces of the puzzle which can make a life complete. Without it, having lot of money cannot bring perfect happiness, even if you live in a big house, it is not a home without somebody to share.

All I can do is to be contented on what i have and spend it on a some things that are more important.

I never tried sewing clothes, I manage to sew only the piping of a cloth and not really the entire dress. I am not able to study it. My mom know to sew curtains, uniform and office dress and sofa set cover. I am more interested in cooking and baking food. I do a little handiwork like wiring, repair my leak faucets, and repairing my computer like soft wares and hardware troubleshooting. My brother taught me about those things as he is away and working in other country. The only man in our house is my elderly father and all are girls. Nobody can do all the repairs I volunteer to do so with precaution. That make s my family happy a girl like me can do a boy works, too.

We need enough money to live a happy life. The amount should satisfy our basic needs sometimes can afford one or two luxuries within a month, like planning a travel or going to a decent restaurant to have dinner with our family members or friends. However, owning too much money doesn't have a close relationship with happiness. To be worse, spending time and energy to earn that part of extra money may cause you to lose the time that you should have been with happiness.

Spending money is good to reward yourself for working harder and get some pleasure in life. The activities you mention are worthwhile and it equates your effort. You may have a lots of money and enjoy buying expensive stuffs. But, depending on money as your single source of happiness is not right at all. As you mention, may miss a lot of opportunity to be happy with your loved ones for the reasons that you are out to work. But, you can still make use of your time wisely. Especially, during weekends, you can make up with the loss time. Bring your family in theater, amusement parks or simply play around with you kids or with your family inside your homes is a great opportunity to unwind.

Some things are free in life. we just need to learn to discover it and will be ready to feel it. The activities you mention are really enjoyable as long as you keep singing and dancing and the listeners enjoy it. Whatever, as long as you got the feel happy feeling. It is still good and you got to feel the cooperation of your loved ones with their gigling and smile as you sway your body to the tune of music.

Simplicity in whatever we doing, creates joy in simple people. How do i wish egocentric and money driven people will learn this ideas. It will surely calm and erases tension. it will serves a s a driving force to learn to live and enjoy the things which are already part of your current life. We may not acquire much, no matter the amount of work and struggles we spend. Worries over some things that related to luxury often lead to disappointment and frustration. Especially, if we do not know to handle a situation. Learning to love what we have at present and looking at the faces of our love ones is simple joys to reckon with.

The activities you mention are enjoyable, especially your friends and family join with you. Conversation and talking with your loved ones is a great ways to spend time or killing the time when you feel bored. It is one way of releasing tension and an opportunity to make use of your valuable time. It also the time when you can talk with friends on topics that are of interest to both of you. Likely, you will get advices and more creative ideas as the conversation takes place.

Hi neel! You see happy is a state of mind and if we can condition our mind that we are feeling 'elated' and 'happy', nothing like that. Contentment is related to happiness and if we are feeling contented, happiness will come automatically. Money is basic need, we cannot get most the things without money, however, money is not everything. Possessing lots of money is no guarantee of 'eternal happiness'. I would like to feel contended with less money rather than having plenty of money and 'no happiness' in my life. Good Post!

That is really true and I think every person have gone or already experience it. Money cannot buy happiness, but with money you can share it to others and it bring happiness. I also observe that if you start your day with a positive feelings and good thoughts and taken away negative thinking. It will surely to make you more confidence to face the day with a smile and people around will turn to notice you and gladly smile back at you. Of course, money is a necessity to make our living comfortable. But, at the end of the days and the thoughts of growing old. It will make us all realize that money help us but not entirely. Good companionship, loyal and caring friends and relatives, sons or daughters were the most important of the reasons to consider to live and not just for money. The rewards of this kind of relationship is really enriching and rewarding.

Hi neelianoscet! I usually choose to go places where I need not spend money just to have fun. We have several parks near our home so those are some of the places I go to. Most of the time, I bring my dogs so that they too, will enjoy. There are also times when my boyfriend and I would just go out and stroll and enjoy nature. When I go home to the province, I spend most of my time in the beach. It is also nice to just stay home and play some board games or card games.

The activities you mention are the things which are free to enjoy that entails no or little money. We can make our family happy by the things that money can buy. But, real happiness depends on our self perception on what is real happiness. The sources are endless, as for example, we can be happy making other people laugh on our jokes, smiling genuinely without faking it, give anythings that is not expensive, such as self made gifts, helping a neighbors, friend, relatives or a totally stranger person. This are happiness that can be feel within our hearts, lighten our burdens and what you mention gives you peace.

Hey, Well I actually think it is quite hard to actually enjoy your life without spending money. It is really hard actually, you can't buy anything if you have no money. You can't buy food, clothes, or anything. Personally I don't think I could enjoy life without spending money. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

Hi elite user, yeah, that is true if you always rely on your every movements and have to get something from your pocket. The one which is being talk here is about the free things which a person could see and feel for free like the beauty of natures and other things. Then, the presence of good friends and if you live in a farms to learn to appreciate simplicity like you could spend less money and enjoy to little things you could buy on a budget. Whereas, if you live in a city it is really a different stories as for every movements you have to spend money in order to live as you could not get it free without pushing hard yourself to earn from work. have a nice day!

Hmmn...You can try all the reply here of all the gentle people. You know you can get their an ideas..Anyway, money can make us happy. Imagine the things which money can buy is endless. The reason we work is to have money and not against that. The messages really that I like to pinpoint here is to give an examples of how you could cope if in case you have no money or with little money. What would you do to survive the day without money? Do you know to be happy or at least act like happy. because if you always look sad, your neighbors would really assume that you really have no money. It is visible in your face, well just joking. Some people are not in full happiness if they could not afford to spend or at least give or treat a friend with their money and retreat to isolation. But, have find some creative ideas to make a dull day not boring and spend the day on activities that require not spending money of if their is a need at least spend in moderate amount. In that way we can make simple ideas into great one and if your companion get your ideas. Then, both of you will learn at least to act happy and in the process you could adopt the ideas in a situation when money is the last option.

Well, just like you say, indeed there are many activities we can enjoy without spending any money. When I go back to my university and talk with my old friends this is the best thing I have ever experienced. Friends` words can double the happiness and relieve the pain. Therefore, we can always enjoy the talk and forget the time from morning to night. No money, but happiness. With a warm heart such activities are everywhere.

This alone, can make you happy. Living with simple things and learning to live with it is a guarantee of eternal happiness. If you know how to balance it, then just continue with your activities.
