Do you Prefer Hot or Cold?

I talking about the weather temp here. Living in Michigan we get a good share of cold and all winter long complain about the cold, snow, and ice. But now we've moved into summer and it's HOT and HUMID. Personally I prefer the cold. I don't sleep good when it's hot and lets face it when it's cold you can put on another layer of cloths or crank up the furnace. In the summer when it's hot it's hot and unless you are one of the lucky few to have air conditioning - you survive the heat. How about you, hot or cold? How to you deal with which ever it is you don't care for?

Well I'll tell you what dear - you can have our Michigan weather right now, hot hot hot. Neighbor lady was so sweet last night brought over a fan they don't use (they have air-conditioning). It did help some last night but I'm off to work now and dreading the long day closed up inside or suffering the heat on breaks :( hugs to you too sweetie, and Gissi :)

We had a few days here where it was 'nice', neither hot nor cold - I loved that but afraid it didn't last long. In the 80s today and their talking 90s tomorrow. There's air-conditioning where I work but when you walk out the door it's like being hit with a blast furnace. I like to go outside during my lunch break but didn't enjoy it at all yesterday :(

Oh boy! I hate it when it is really cold and I hate when it gets real hot like it is right now! Right now in the state where I live,Wisconsin,it is very hot and humid! Yuck! It should be normal summer temps tomrrow! My favorite season's are spring and fall! Usually those season's aren't to hot or to cold! The older I get the more I hate the really cold weather and the heat of summer! If winter would in the thirdies and fourties all the time,no problem! I hate the extremes of weather!

I am not thrilled with winter, but I'd rather put up with it than have to live where the heat is oppressive. I could live further north, with cold, but it would be the lack of light that would get to me. Humidity is awful! When I lived in the city, summer was almost unbearable. Here, there is always a little breeze. It usually cools down in the evening. We do get the odd humid day, but not weeks on end. When it gets that hot, you head to the beach! I wouldn't want to be ANYWHERE else in summer! It is wonderful, THE place to be when the weather is hot!

Same here, humidity is awful and it seems here when it's hot it's humid, could be something to do with being the land of 1000 lakes, we do have water :) I love going to the beach and used to do that every chance I could afraid my work schedual doesn't leave much time for that now and I have to drive a little distance to get to one so more time out of my busy schedual.

I used to live right next to Lake Ontario, which I'm sure you are familiar with, since you are in Michigan. We now live on the ocean, which provides not just the water, but the BREEZE! yeah! I would never even dream of swimming in the lake, it is so polluted! And the beaches in the city were not fit for anyone. Here, it is more rural and remote, so we can actually enjoy the beauties of nature.

uh, I can't not bear hot and cold weather. it's very troublesome. therefore, I prefer to stay in a mild zone instead of a place of extreme. hotness is killing me, i feel like dying under hot burning sun. while coldness makes me fasten my pace and slip into a building or any shelter.

I don`t like both hot and cold. When the winter is coming, I must wear as many as clothes to keep warm which make me move like a bear. When the summer is coming, because of the sweat I have to bathe everyday and washing clothes is so boring. So the spring and fall is my favourite. I hope they will come soon.

I much prefer cold weather, too. I wilt when it's hot - no energy and no ambition. As you said, you can always put on more clothes or turn up the furnace (or put more wood on the fire) when it's cold. I have air conditioning, but I hate it so I don't use it until it's absolutely necessary.

Hi Faith, I guess I prefer tempered cold. The feeling of snuggling under a thick blanket when the weather (or room) is cold is a great feel. I think it is more gratifying that feeling all windy when it is hot (though that is still great). Well just my preference. Cheers!

While temperature extremes of any kind can be tough to deal with, I think I'd go with hot weather over cold weather. Granted, I do have air conditioning -- coming from a hot place (Mississippi), I'd say most people here do have AC and would sacrifice their TV or Internet before dropping it so it isn't just the "lucky few" here. I tend to associate cold weather with getting sick because...well, because whenever it gets cold I usually get sick, sometimes rather severely. I'd rather be a little uncomfortable than laid up in bed and feeling miserable. I also would rather wear less clothing to deal with the heat than bundle up to deal with the cold.

Well, If I have to choose between hot or cold, then I would prefer cold. It is really hard for me to rest when its very hot. More so with sleeping. So usually I end up paying a high electric bill since I use the airconditioner all the time. Our country is a tropical country. Usually the weather is hot most especially during the summer. How I wish it would be cold.

I prefer cold.Because that's the time i get good sleep in the night.I never prefer hot as it makes me sweat most of the time.If the power goes during summer it is difficult for me to sleep in the night as there are even mosquitoes biting me.I also love the rainy season over here as there is good breeze. When the temperature becomes cold.I will not put a sweater even if i go out.

Hi byfaithonly, although we are sweltering in a massive heatwave at the moment which is a bit too much i try not to complain about it as I remember how cold the winter was. I hate the cold, I am always cold in winter, I just hate it, many times the house is colder inside than out, a good thing in summer but horrid in winter. The heat for the house in winter is limited due to the cost of running the central heating which just guzzles up oil so is hardly ever on. So it's layers and layers of clothes and brisk walks outside. The heat is much easier to deal with and to avoid.

When I am cold, I prefer Hot, while it is hot, I prefer Cold. Actually, the both are same to me, annoying likewise. I used to have the same opinion with you, like the cold better, but when it is summer, I change my mind.

Cold Weather....are you kidding me? I live way down south and we had snow last year, It was the very first snow for us in years and tears and years. I can't seep in the heat, I can't do anything, my face breakes out and I'm just always in a bad mood. So if I had a choice it would be cold and that's that. I have air conditioning but if you walk outside or get out the car it's all hot all over again.

I am definitely a cold person, I hate the summer. On June 1st, I begin my 100 day count down, now I know that in 100 days it will still be hot but by then it is September and the beginning of fall is in the air this makes the heat more tolerable and it is cooler at night making it easier to sleep. Yup...I am a cold person.

I prefer the cold as well...I feel more energized and not lethargic and yes, sleep better too. So far we've had unusually cool weather here and it's been wonderful...unfortunately that is about to change beginning tomorrow when literally overnight we're going to be near 90 and going to be humid....mmmm...time for me to drag out that fan of mine...LOL I don't have air conditioning either

To bad a choice wasn't a comfortable 70 or 80 degrees with a nice south breeze. I just am not comfortable either way. To cold I am in pain to hot I can't breath. This year the humidity has been really bad. Then I get a summer time cold, that's alot of fun.

As i get older I am finding that too much of either is very uncomfortable for me. I just tolerate what I can and suffer through the rest of it. Right now the heat and humidity is kicking my a**, but not too long ago the cold was doing the same thing. I have a hard time making myself comfortable because I don't like to wear a lot of clothing when it is cold, and I usually wear too much when it is hot (don't like to have too much skin showing).

I used to live in Chicago so I am used to the cold. Now I live in Georgia and let me tell you.....hot and humid all the time...yucky!! I am with you. When it is cold you can always put on more clothes. But when it is hot, there is only so much you can take off in public. My ideal place to live would be somewhere where the temp. is anywhere between 50-75 all year round with little to no humidity...oh, and snow only on Christmas. That would be my perfect place to live.

I prefer the heat which is why I choose to live in a sub-tropical climate. I live in Queensland, Australia. We only have short winters here and even then you can still get around in shorts and t-shirt some days. It is winter here right now and seems a lot colder this year. We have had a lot of rain this winter which is unusual as it is our dry season! Our summers are long and hot(beach weather for 6 months of the year)But I like it :-)
