Do you use Shake N Bake chicken coating? If so what flavor do you like best. I used the ranch one yesterday it was pretty good. But I like the regular and the BBQ as well. Do you or have you used it? What flavor or flavors do you like best?

I've never used actualy "shake 'n Bake" but I do use Italian bread crumbs and use it in a similar manner on chicken & pork chops. And we usuallyuse ranch dressing as the "glue".

Now that sounds really practical and yummy. More control of what is in the breading as well. Throw some Parmesan cheese into the mix and you will like that too.

I do something similiar where I use Italian flavored bread crumbs, mix is some parmesan cheese. I cover the chicken with Wishbone Italian dressing and then cover the chicken with the bread crumb and parmesan mixture. It turns out fantastic all the time. The Italian dressing helps the chicken stay really moist.

I do add parmesian cheese when I have it on hand otherwise I do add some seasonings after it's been "shaked" I failed to mention that

I have used it although it has been a while. I love the BBQ flavor and the original is not bad either. The Italian and Garlic and Herb are favorites of mine too but the BBQ is the best. Now I have to go to the store this afternoon because I want Shake N Bake for dinner tonight!

The last time I had any in the house. My daughter who was 13 at them decided to make chicken with it. She just took the time to read how much water and eggs to use. She mixed it all together and when it wouldn't stick to the chicken she called me at work wanting to know why it didn't stick. I told her she had to read the instructions as wel as the other ingredients. we didn't have shake and bake chicken for supper that night.

If there is too much liquid it might make it hard, you need to get them just a little wet before shaking.

Hey LadyM, Now that it is summertime I have been doing much grilling , and bread my meats so much less . There has been a few times I have just used the plain shake and bake and I cant recall if it had flavor . I just like something that has crunch and crispy LOL . I just most times use flour and a mix of crumbs . It has some flavor and I always want something more . Maybe will give the shake a try again down the line .

It has been a long time since I used it. I do like the BBQ though. I didn't even realize they had a ranch flavor. Sounds like a great idea though. I'll have to give that on a try.

You either dip the chicken in water or milk before putting the peices in the bag and shaking.

I used to use it, and have even used it once or twice in the last ten years as my hubby bought it. Personally, I can taste the sugar in it, and I do not care for it.

my son will only eat shake and bake on pork chops meaning he will not eat pork chops any other way. We eat all the different coatings, he likes the bbq the most.

mmmm... The ranch must be new. I haven't used Shake 'n Bake in years! I liked the original and the BBQ. It was so easy and the kids liked it too! I might have to find it in the grocery store and use it again.

I totally forgot they even made shake n bake. i haven't had it in years. I think I may have made it when I first got married which was 9 years ago and have not used it since. I usually use just bread crumbs and season them with what I want to use. Wow they come in different flavors now?

Shake n Bake is too salty for me. I make my own coatings so I can control the amount of salt and create all kinds of different flavors. Often I use instant potato flakes or crushed cereal crumbs instead of flour. I add my own favorite seasonings. Sometimes I'll dip the meat in a favorite sauce like BBQ or ranch dressing then n the coating mix or just bake with just the sauce. My latest creation was honey mustard chicken using 2 parts honey & one part dijon mustard. I didn't have anything for a coating so I just baked the chicken pieces in a covered baking dish.

I have not thought about using potato flakes, I bet that is good. I am going to try that next time.

I used it a long time ago but I haven't in forever. I guess I'm used to marinating all the meat I cook with. I'll bet my kids would like it but I don't do a lot of oven cooking, I'm not sure how it works on the grill though.

no i don't since it quite expensive here but we have local breadings here whichis also of good quality. We have flavors like regular, garlic, barbeque and cheese.
