How do you start a blog? have you ? is it successful??

Im a teenager looking to make some extra money, and with the ever successful adsense luring me into blogging, it seems like a possibility. But where do i start ? Im not very experienced so do i buy a domain or use another alternative? if so what? Then my next dilemma, how easy is it to drive traffic to my blog? and what are the potential subjects to cover in a blog? Tell me about your experiences.. any help would b much appreciated :)
