i love it! i am a fan of sinigang...pork, shrimp, fish, beef, chicken...name it! hehehe but my favorite of them all and also my husband's favorite is the shrimp sinigang! i just notice that different people cooks different sinigang but its still yummy! i like my friend's pork sinigang...she's using real tamarind and not the powdered one...its just that i still like anykind of sinigang whoever cooks it!

i use alternately the mix and the real tamarind.if it's a tamarind season then i'd rather use the real ones.sad to note that there's not even a single month in a year that i see real tamarinds so the mix is my last resort.it's still yummy though.

i agree with both of you for i am also a powder tamarind user! its just good that my friend have a tamarind tree in their place... i also saw in the tv that an unripe mango can also be use for sinigang...i think they use it in a fish sinigang...and yes i love the sour taste of sinigang and a little chili kick is also nice, and its also very nutritious having all those veggies! its a all in one dish!

I love sinigang of any kind but I like fish and shrimp than pork. Actually our lunch is pork sinigang I like the sour taste of the soup of it. It is hard to find a real tamarind so the last option is the powdered one. Anyway the taste is also similar and it is more convenient. Other sour fruits also will do like kamias or batuan. Batuan is popular in Visayas region the tastes is much different and it is good to put in sinigang.

Sounds interesting. What's in it? We usually don't have soup although I would like to. Soup is inexpensive and very good for you.

it's tamarind soup in english.you can try the recipe at home.boil water and put fish, shrimps or any meat that you prefer and add tamarind.and that's it.add veggies too. if tamarind is not available then better shop at the grocery for ready tamarind mix.

I too love sinigang and my favourite is pork sinigang, specially if its ribs, yummy. I haven't had sinigang for almost 3 years and I miss a lot of food in our country. I haven't seen tamarind paste or powder here in Egypt and it's not easy to get pork as well.
