shifter lever removal

i am having one hell of a time trying to get my shifter lever takin out of my 1984 chevy k10 4x4 truck can anyone give me some tips on how to get it out???

Unscrew 4 base screws at the base of the shifter. There is a lock pin at the base, turn it SLOWLY to the left and lift up the shifter. It will come right out :) That is what Hubby says for you to do :)
