Where you nervous when you first met your mate's parents/family

You meet someone, become attracted, fall in love and then it comes; time to meet the parents and family. Sometimes you hit it off and sometimes you don't. That first meeting can be nerve racking though...because you want them to like you and you want to make your mate feel happy. I had been a little nervous about meeting "the family" in the past but after my second boyfriend I became more comfortable with the third and fourth. I guess it helps too if your mate tries to make it a little comfortable for you and also if you just look at it as some folks you are going to meet instead of "the family" LOL I have learnt that a little added humour can go a long way with some folks. Have you ever been nervous in this situation?

I never had the family thing of my own so meeting my others family can be very difficult for me. I do manage but honestly avoid it at all costs unless it is for quick visits but still makes me very uncomfortable although they were decent enough.

You knnow what.. it can be difficult at times but you take it each visit at a time and you go slow with simple chats and smiles. I can understand where you are coming from but I hope that you will continue to give it a chance. it can be nice when people are decent as you have put it and like you. Have a great day!

oh yes.. well in a case like that you would feel very comfortable because you already had contact with his Mom which must have been very nice. So it felt like you were going to see a friend as opposed to meeting "the family". It was a nice that if your hubby shared his family with you before you met them in person. Cheers.

Hi Trinee! Well I did not feel nervous while meeting my partner's parents. I had a comfortable chat with them, becaue there was no question of getting nervous.
