Icky sticky stuff

That icky sticky stuff is only fit for heffalumps and woozles. So said Tigger. But he was talking about hunny and I am talking about Coca Cola. For some reason, my grocery store only sells canned coke in 12 packs. If I want a 6 pack I have to get bottles. Which I did, because I wasn't interested in a 12 pack, thank you very much. Richard's the only one who drinks coke and not all that often. This morning as I was leaving to drop Cary at "Extended School Year" (don't call it summer school), I grabbed an ice tea out of the garage refrigerator like I always do. Only things were not as expected. My little routine was blown out of the water. There was a broken coke bottle on the cement in front of the refrigerator and coke and glass all over the place. Now I'm a bit slow in the mornings, but not that slow. Earlier, inside, Cary had informed me that we were down to the last carton of milk. "Mom, you have to buy milk today," he said. And I do have to or his little world will come crashing down on him and all of us too. So, aha, Cary getting milk, broken Coke bottle. Light bulb! So I asked him, "Cary, did you break a bottle when you were getting milk this morning." 5 or 6 expressions flash across his face as he thinks this one over. "It was an accident, mom." "I know sweetie, but next time you need to come and tell me so that I have time to clean it up." "OK mom," he says, "I broke a bottle and you need to clean it up." Um, yeah, thanks... Sadly I just didn't have time to do the job. I had maybe a little more than 5 minutes to spare getting him to school. So I did what any good wife would do. I swept up the glass, poured water on the part that was outside the refrigerator and called the husband. After all, he's the neat freak, he gets home before I do and he cleans better than I do anyway. Last night, Richard was quite distraught. The darn ants had found the poundcake that his mother had made for his birthday. Fortunately he had wrapped some of it up and frozen it, but the b*stards got the rest. So we cleaned that up, but our little ant friends were still scampering around looking for something better despite all our spraying. So maybe the coke in the garage is a godsend of some sort. See, I figure it was just a matter of time before the ants found the pantry and got into some cereal or cookies or something that the kids had forgotten to close. Maybe they like Coke. I don't know about you, but I'd rather have ants in the garage than in the house anyway. I can hope... Do you have ants?

Actually, I don't have ants now, or uncles either! (LOL!) Yeah, I know what you mean...we don't get too many ants up in our apartment...I haven't seen one at all this year, and maybe just one last year. I would rather have them in the garage than in the house, too! Holy cow, I'm so stressed just reading all your stuff! What a lot of clean up and stuff to do! Too back about Richard's cake..I love poundcake, too. Those pesky ants will try to get into everything, so BE CAREFUL! Good day, I hope!

I'm sitting here stressing (a little) over not being able to clean it up. But I'm leaving work a little early today, so I really couldn't come in late. Sigh. Oh well...

oh,i just love when people do that.my mom used to drop glasses and if she did clean it,she left chunks of the glass here and there.now she only gets plastic glasses, they're too dangerous for her. we..usually don't get ants..usually..'cause i make sure they don't leave crumbs all over the place.if i didn't,we probably would. once in awhile one of those BMF tree ants get in,but is usually executed by my calico i guess they are tasty?

Strangely enough, there don't seem to be many ants here at all. Maybe I need to start buying, drinking and spilling Coca Cola? I'd much prefer to attract them with pound cake though because this would mean that I would have already eaten some pound cake. You do realise that you could of just head on out to Toys 'R' Us and bought Cary an Ant Farm kit yes? I appreciate that this helps keep Richard busy, but still!

dear dawnald, if we are to speak about ants, we have lots of them in the house. we only have a small rented house and despite being a small one, we cannot do the cleaning everytime. we can only have the general cleaning of the entire house for i guess 2 or 3 times the whole year. and because of this, we have lots of friends on board. we have rats, ants, roaches and other friendly little friends. neil

Somebody just told me that vinegar would get rid of the ants, think I'll try it!

Are you sure you didn't grab a coke instead of an iced tea? Your mind seems to be running in overdrive, all that to ask if I have ants? lol You know I love your stories! They captivate me...suck me in! NO...but we have wasps and june bugs! YUCK! I'd take an ant over a clingy, crawly june bug any day.

I'm pretty sure the coke was already broken. Also we have a confession. But then again, I wasn't very awake! One ant, OK. The entire horde invading every room in the house, no thanks!!!
