Do you work with people that constantly complain?

I was wondering if anyone here worked with people that constantly complain about their job. I sit near someone that does this daily. In fact yesterday he was telling a new employee about how he feels about some of the procedures in his job and that he does not like it. He did not say one positive thing about his job to this person. He has even told third parties that he has to call negative things about the company. Then he complains that they do not offer us free food anymore or give away prizes. Considering the fact that the company has laid some people off and the state of the economy he should understand that they have to cut costs somewhere and he should be lucky to have a job. I mean there are some things I do not like here but I don't sit there and complain about is constantly. I need a job because I have bills to pay. I feel fortunate to still be here. So I see this has a positive thing not negative.

Absolutely everyone I work with complains! I totally agree that there should be little to complain about with the state of the economy and we should all be greatful that we even have jobs. I totally agree with you on that. Our company never does anything extra for us, but as I said, the guys I work with should just be greatful to be able to pay their bills with as many people as there are losing their jobs. I totally feel for you and know exactly what you're talking about.

There was a time when our company did lots of extra things for us. Once year they would take our entire department out to lunch and a nice restaurant. I got to go to places I normally would not have gone too. Then at Christmas they would feed us several meals those last two weeks. We use to have auctions and could bid on prizes (I won my iPod touch that way). So I remember the those days. I miss it, but I don't complain about it. I would rather people here had their jobs than get fed free food.

Yeah there are things in my life that are not so great but I try not to waste my energy complaining about it and actually doing something about it.

I have a booth that I rent in a flea market. One of the vendors is so negative. It's complaint all day long. I had to move to another booth so I can get away from her. I have work in companies same scenario. I usually try to avoid having as little conversation as possible.

i suggest you stop hangin-out with that guy and stop responding to his complaints. because you might end up like him.

I don't have a co-worker that complains but I have an ex-boyfriend that usually complain and I hate to hear it almost everyday of his life. But that's not the reason why we broke up. hehehe... He complains about almost everything he has in his life. The key to true happiness is just to accept everything you have and be contented about it!
