Quality or quantity?

After many months in mylot posting, I noticed that many of us want to post as many as we can to gain my responds, and earn more money here. Some of the discussions are just trivial, while others bring in interesting thinking, and controversial arguement in this social forum. I knew that mylot loves more people to join the site, and more people post their discussions here. But not many of these discussions are in quality. Should we focus on quality we deem it is a quality discussion; or focus the quantity of postings here? The ultimate goal we want, it is to earn extra money.

the ultimate goal is NOT to earn money the goal is to share ideas and thoughts with people from around the world you cant really do that if you are posting a ton of meaningless responses the key lies in thoughtful and descriptive responses so the focus should be on quality and NOT quantity

Well said! And the funny thing is, if you forget about the money and concentrate on quality posts, your earnings will increase anyway. In the long run, meaningless posts only waste the poster's time, because those of us who are in it for the discussion just won't bother with them. I'll take the time to advise a newbie to put more thought into their posts, but if it's somebody with over 500 posts who's posting rubbish, I'll just move on.

I like the quality posts the best. But they do take longer to post and to answer.

I have also noticed something else, but cannot say as it is against the guidelines. I do not worry about quantity. I have hard enough time getting the quality. It also depends on nerve. Do you have nerve to say that God is alive, or ask myLotters if a certain ethnic group is not that bright and risk being called a racist? Or saying that a certain religion breeds terrorists? On the other hand, some of the innocent trivial discussions are not that innocent. For instance, someone asks how often do you vacuum the living floor and the first few say every day or every two days and you vacuum once a week, how does that make you feel? Lower then a worm in a hollow. Besides what is considered a quality discussion? I never went to University, and I get much of my information from other people the net, books tv etc. and when I did do one of those quality discussions, I had to turn off the notify me because of the flak. So I think it is nervousness and being flamed that keeps people from posting quality. I wish it were not so.

well, i was spending a lot of time on forums anyway, and then i thought i might as well make a few $ on it... I like good quality discussion where people can learn something new. my main goal on forums is to help people find information i might have and find information others have. and surely sometimes i run into people who argue about something they don't even know so my goal then is to show them exactly how unwise it is hehehe...

I generally like quality over quantity but it does seem as the simple subjects get the most comments. Quite ironic the less thought the more people desire to answer it

I agree with you - they are the discussions that tend to get the most comments.

i think that people should focus on the discussions over the money....i think that a quality discussion with quality replies is more importain than quanity....i mean i enjoy the fact that im makin a little bit of money on here....but at the same tima am glad that if i start a discussion people actually put thought into the reply....i also think, that expressing myself and opinions is mnore improtain than money...

Hello clorissa123, When I just started, I wanted to earn more than anything. It is not my main goal anymore now. I like the discussions and how we can 'communicate' here. Of course earning while posting is a bonus too. For me, quality is better than quantity.

'After many months in mylot posting, I noticed that many of us want to post as many as we can to gain my responds, and earn more money here' Are you aware that you do not earn for the activity of others? Are you aware that even if you receive 100 responses it will NOT be you who earns for them but the users who posted them? Did you know that YOU earn for YOUR OWN activity and not that of others? The only way that many responses help you to earn is if you go back and comment on them. Unless you do that they earn you nothing as we are NOT paid for the activity of others. I have seen in earlier discussions that you posted that your earnings are decreasing. Try ackowledging those who respond to you and you will see an increase again. My goal is not the earnings on here but the fun with my friends. The fact that we earn for doing so is an added bonus!

I usually only respond to topics that I find interesting and relevant so I can make a quality comment and contribute to a better discussion. Though it is good to earn money we should also make it a point to give relevant response or comments to make this site a better place.

The way I understand it, the short answers don't pay as well as the longer, thought out answers when responding to a discussion. I think that is as it should be. I don't know if it is that way now, but I remember hearing that many times when I started last year. I know that I had talked to one person who always wrote long responses and she almost made payout after less than 100 responses while it took me almost 500 before I made my first payout. Now my responses are generally long and if someone just gives a one-line response, I don't respond back; but if they write a long response, I generally do. So I do think that quality is better than quantity, but if you can do both it is even better. I was off the site for a year so now I am getting back into it so that I can start making money (I hope) and stop being as bored. Of course, I also have to take some time off from posting in order to do homework or go job hunting, but at least I'm not sitting around doing nothing or wasting my whole day on facebook, which doesn't pay anything. Have a great day!!!

The ultimate goal of many participants here is to earn money. But, in gaining money a quality post is needed to start a discussion. Many can post posts but without any reply. It will be useless. This require interaction with the other participant. With nobody to answer our discussion. The purpose of my lot is lost. Their is no need to post non-sense questions which attract no reactions. Basically empty discussion is comparable to an empty trash can.

I do not always think of quality or quantity when comes to taking part in the discussion here. I think the most important thing is to enjoy, and to have something to say, whether it's serious thoughts or just poking fun at each other. No matter what, the more we post, and the longer the post, the more money we make. Making money in mylot should be enjoyable, otherwise we feel burnout and dont feel like taking part anymore.

When I was starting, I would consume the whole day posting here. I thought by posting many discussions would yield to higher points. Honestly, I was expecting a dollar earning from that day alone. But I was wrong, I only yielded a little over .50. I came to realize that I need not focus on the number of posts I have made. Rather, post relevant topics and provide quality posts.

Lets us not be too analytical in our observations. No doubt a quality topic alwyas epouses intrests among participants. But lets us not degrade other discussions which may not achieve the quality criteria. Sometimes even the most foolish questions tickles our brain. It, if not for anything could be a cause for laughter. Great inventions have started from the most silly and foolish ideas. Remember the aeroplane and the wright brothers. It is funny to see them attempt to fly the first time. So let this forum be a mixture of the good, the bad and the very bad.

Of course everybody wants to earn here in mylot but in order for us to do that, we must make responses that are of quality and not just by quantity. So it should be both sides, quality and quantity. I usually spend like 4-5 hours a day here in mylot to responding to some discussions but I make sure that I post more than 5 lines so that I can earn more for my efforts. Some responses are either positive or negative depending on the topic but I make sure not to offend others as much as possible. I don't know how many posts do I make in a day since I don't count it all but I make an effort for everything I do and I know that I will be rewarded for my labors.

i think the majority of people are here to gain money som money in reality!!So as regards that as much you post and much you can gian daily...i saw this is a kind of rule here!! As regards quality is difficult ..in many cases you must think that there are also many people,as me,they are not english-native speakers!!So i think the quality of posts should be not as a native one as well fro the coice of words and even to express yourself simply!! So naturally if a people are native english i think they have the opportunity to write more quality posts...in relaton to foreigners!! as regards topic it deepnds..such as it is possible that for some topics you can judge not interesting but for other people yes..you know it is a big communities so the aim and purposes here i guess they are so various and so it should eb quite impossible o resume in a post or single discussion too!!

If I have something to say about the given subject, I will always try to write lengthy and quality answers. However some subjects I do find myself struggling for words.

Well I've made quite a post. I don't think it's necessary how long or short is, I just say how I really feel about it.an honest response.

i like quality more than quantity ,bacause english is not my mother launguge ,so the first goal i come here is for learning english , my work need it , i think i can write well ,i can express ,but i can speak little ,or i speak so slow ,so i am now dip myself into a english circumstance, the more vocabulary i am familar with ,the better ican use them ,the fast i can speak.
