U.S. congress encourage majority of U.S. citizens to save money for future retirement, especially invest your money into 401k Plan, or IRA for the retirement. According to predictions, when we reach the retirement age, there won't be any social security retirement money return to us. So, it is all depend on our own savings from now on. From my calculation, unless you are super rich, like Bill Gate, or you have to work until you die. Just imagine, how many bills you have to keep up with. Utility, health care, medication, property tax, car insurance, etc.....

I filed for SS and I still work, but not as much as I used to. I think our government run retirement program was a failed experiment and the sooner people wake up to that, the better off they'll be.

In my country it is very difficult to find a job after a certain age. So the way to survive is frugality and imagination. I´m making each year a bigger vegetable garden. I have learnt to make exquisite and unexpensive meals. I earn money online for vacations as it is not in my budget. Clothes aren´t eaither, really, but I take very good care of them and my friends and family bring me beautiful things for my birthday. My car is 12 years old and I know it´s the last car I´ll have in my life so I call it the "Blue Prince". Meds had been worrying me, but my government is taking care of some of the health problems of the citizens. I hope all this continues.

It's good to keep working until you can't do it anymore. It keeps you young at heart and more healthy if you have something to get up for in the morning. You are correct about being wealthy like Bill Gates. It's good to sit down with a financial advisor at your local bank and let them look at your assets. They can give you a plan that will get you through your retirement years.

many people who reach retirement age can not afford to retire because most do not have any retirement money. the main reason is because they could not afford to put any money in a retirement plan. i no people think everyone can but lots of people were just had enough to pay the bills and put food on the table they were living paycheck to paycheck makes it hard to put money in a retirement plan unless you were rich to begin with.
