This year I am making pillows and blankets for all the kids. The boys get the Cars theme and the girls get the little mermaid. I am making cookie mix jars, brown jars, my famous pumpkin bread jars, and cocoa jars for the adults.... I don't have much to spend.. so i at least do this.

I'm not very crafty. I would have a room full of real disappointed people if I tried to make their gifts.

Sometimes I make scrapbook pages for a scrapbook I gave my mother. She's not a crafts person and refused to even try making her own, so I add to her book every so often.

sbeauty, I bet your mother really loves each page you create! This is something that she will appreciate when you are not always with her and she can look at it and remember you doing it. My daughter gives me journals made out of homemade paper(she buys them) and she puts a picture of herself and a message in the front of it. I love those journals and sometimes they make me cry.

Some years I make gifts but this year I am giving what I have and that is my huge amount of stuff. Neices and nephews are going to get blessed with stuff I want and need to move on. Call me cheap, but at least I won't have to ever move it again.

Jellen, Antiques are used and yet they are passed from owner to owner. I am sure the receiver will love what ever you give them. It is not cheap, it is wonderful! I love to pass on to others the things that I choose not to hold on to. I had a very big teddybear that I gave to two little boys and they thought that was the best thing ever. Your love was put into the things you had and you are just passing it along so more can be added as well.

Yes! I knit shawls, I make jams from berries I picked that grow wild, and I make baked goodies and candy. I think a gift that is homemade says so much more and shows how much you care. It is nice to get store bought gifts and money but I love the things that are made by the person who gave them. It isn't how much the gift costs so much as it is about the meaning behind it. My daughter beads and she makes beautiful jewelry for her friends. I also sew napkins and flannel pajama bottoms that are very popular. I am so thankful that my aunt and grandmother taught me to sew and cook. I have been passing these skills onto my daughters.

i have never made christmas gifts but my ex sister in law once made me the most beautiful thing...she just took like a mason jar..filled it with some good smelling mulberry poturri(i dont know how to spell this)...and she had a litle set of christmas lights on the inside around the jar and the cord coming out the top and the top was covered by a peice of lace and a ribbon and rubberband to hold it on..i loved that thing..i thought it was soo beautiful and smelled so good when it started heating up

Sounds like a good idea. You got to do what you can when you don't have money. I don't know what to get everyone this year. We'll see what happens when December gets here.

Christmas is my favorite holiday but each year i have the same problem what do i buy for my girlfriend, my mother, my aunts and my friends. In my family it is a must to get something so they know you think about them. So my sister showed me this gift that she bought for her boyfriend for christmas and it solved all of my problems. She bought a heart shaped soap with a personalized message inside, I was very impressed i have never seen a thing like that before. So if any one needs a gift for their loved ones. Christmas gifts for boyfriend, gilfriends , co-workers, bosses, grandmothers or grandfather. That soap will suite all of them.

This year my family have decided not to buy presents for the adults so I am going to make them all something. Trays of home made chocolates/sweets. Vases - using glass bottles that I cut and decorate.

Actually, this Christmas is going to be a tight one for me. I have a little girl on the way and she will be here in about 2 weeks or so. My love is in Iraq right now, so I have been focusing the money on baby needs... SO this year I learned how to be very crafty with my spare time, seeing as I am on maternity leave... SO I am making my own gifts this year... Wether it be a picture in a home made frame or what have you... But it's a lot easier to do when you are on a short budget.. Personally I think homemade gifts are worth more than any store bought gift.

Oh yes I love to make gifts for holidays! I'm into wood crafts- So I make alot of those-- Last year I also made the fleece no sew blankets and pillows-- I made my daughter a big purple butterfly one-- funny thing is she made me a big pink snowflake one at my moms! Homemade gifts are great! Frugal at times-- I must say that wood crafts aren't very frugal though- Wood is expensive-- buying the patterns, paint, sandpaper, screws, etc. But I love it when I start with a piece of wood and it ends up being a marvelous craft! My favorite are snowmen! Homemade gifts really mean alot to people too- They come from the heart!

I have made holiday gifts a few times. I crochet so I have done several of those, and I have made gift baskets with different themes. I stenciled the baskets and put together different coffees, with mugs, or soup mix with soup mugs, and just kind of put together things for the special interests of people. It's a lot of fun too.
