I think maybe for someone, it is really hard to use chopsticks. I am a Chinese, and I have been used chopsticks for about twenty-one years, while a few days ago, someone told me I use chopsticks in a wrong way. I think it is quite unbelievable, so I notice what other people use it, I find I really do it incorrectly, no wonder sometimes it is hard for me to pick up with food with chopsticks, especially when the food is bigger.

IN the united states we do not use chopsticks and i have no idea even how to use them even if it is the wrong way or not i still have no idea to even get the food on them LOL. When we go out to eat to a Japanese or Chinese restaurant they do offer you chopsticks but then of course they do have the silver ware we use everyday here in America.

I think your problem is your hand maybe smaller than others or you don't have enough force. There is no official way to hold chopsticks I think, because China is so big that there would be many kinds of postures to hold chopsticks. I use chopsticks better than others I think. When I eat out with my friends, I pick up peanuts much faster than them. The usage of chopsticks means more agile not tp compete who can pick up sth heavier, in my opinien.

I used to have difficulty using chopsticks when I was little. My grandma used to teach me how, though I never really became good at it. Things changed when I was sent to study in Taiwan for one summer. The mess hall where we ate did not provide utensils. Only chopsticks, so I was really forced to practice. After a few days, I was already really good at it, and up until now, I have no problems using chopsticks. In fact, I enjoy eating with chopsticks and I use them as often as I can!

i am a Chinese too :) We have to use chopsticks everyday too. As I know I have been using the wrong way of holding the chopsticks. But I don't care... As long as the food can be reach to my mouth, I am happy, LOL But my sister can hold the chopsticks in a correct way. Just wondering is it important ?

I am Chinese too but unfortunately I was told that I have been using the chopstick incorrectly too. Anyway, I was brought up in a family that uses spoon and fork. No one has actually taught me how to hold the chopstick correctly. So, as long as I can get my food into my mouth, I was fine with it. However, recently, when I was with a Korean friend having korean food with their metal thin chopsticks, I was having so much problem trying to pick up the food. He then showed me how he was taught to hold the chopstick correctly and I have improved since. Still not sure if that is THE way of holding the chopstick but picking food is definitely easier now. Test your style of holding the chopstick by trying to pick up a peanut. If you can do that, I guess you can pick up almost anything and put them into your mouth.

I can use them only if I "stab" the food with them! Just kidding, but I really am very clumsy with them!
