I used to have a big tank of fishes, couple turtles, 2 birds that know how to talk(I forgot their name in English, not parrot), a parrot, couple cats, couple dogs. All of my relatives and friend comment my house was like a zoo, some people like to visit because they like animals, some acted really extreme because they are scared of it. I'm currently having dogs and cats, they are my favourites and I love them very much:-) What about you? What pets have you ever had? What pers are you having now?

I've had dogs, cats, chickens, pigs, mice, rats and fish. Right now I have 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 rats, and 1 betta fish. Rats are my favorite pets.

Rats are beautiful creatures. So many people can't get past the misconceptions to have one and learn to love them. How were pigs?

I love that you said rats are beautiful creatues! I'm so used to getting "Ewww...rats!" instead. Pigs were okay. My "pets" did eventually end up being food, as what thought of as pet my dad though of as livestock. But they were smart, and playful. I'd probably not advocate keeping them as family pets, but I know some people LOVE potbellied pigs.

Yes i do. when i go out they come running to see what kind of treat i have for them. It is rather comical watching them run across the yard all trying to be the first to get to me.

We have 38 cats, 5 chicken, 16 rats, 2 rabbit a male and female and 46 birds. Until now we have this animals and except for the rabbits all have had increased in numbers. We are very fun of our pets. You could imagine our environment as crowded place but we are very happy with these animals. Since we 13 siblings so each of us have different pets. Only our father who do not have his own pet but he's very for us having our animals in the house. Each of these pets has own talents. They have their unique characteristics to each other. Sometimes they are in quarrel when mingled in one place such as when they eat. But so far they are all okay.

I used to have one of those petting zoos when I was younger, too. :) That's why all of our family get togethers and holidays were held at our house. I had freshwater fish, saltwater fish, tortoises, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, gerbils, hermit crabs, snakes, rats, mice, birds, lizards, dogs, cats, chickens, and horses. My favorite animals to have were chickens...they were extremely easy to take care of, smarter than most, and hilarious to watch. Now I am moved out and married, and we only have four cats. But whenever I want I can go back to my parent's house and see some other animals if I get tired of meowing furrballs. :)

It made for great conversation when I was younger! My dad brought my first pony to school for "Show and Tell" when it was my turn. I had by far the best that year! :) Most of the animals are outside a lot of the time, though. The horses and chickens have always been outside, of course, but then about five or six of the cats stay outside and live near the barn. Growing up was never boring. I think that's why when I go into a house with no animals I get creeped out. It feels empty to me. :(

My Jesse was in a tank, I got her as a hatch-ling so first it was a 20 gallon tank then I moved her up to a 100 gallon when I got the chance to get one for free. When I gave her back to the breeder she was a little over 5 foot long ( she started out at 8 in.) I did not power feed her as some owners do to make them grow faster. I fed her about every three weeks unless she showed signs of hunger. I had to give her up when I became pregnant with my first as my husband who is not a snake person insisted she could eat the baby. I did not see this as an issue but when on bed rest there are some issues you just cannot win especially if you cannot get to where you have to be to feed the animal your self. Snakes are not so simple a pet to have as the tank or cage must be sturdy and kept at an exact temperature. I loved her though and visit when we go back home as the breeder has kept her these last 10 years and she is beautiful and 15 foot long. He breeds her now and I am glad he was able to take her back because you never know how someone else may care for your animal. Plus in this country you must have a permit to have an exotic animal which she is.

Really? I didn't know there are some animals that you need a license to have them!
• United States

Actually you need a permit or license in most states for anything that is not indigenous such as a tropical snake as well as dangerous creatures such as pumas, crocodiles, anything with venom, or really big claws. Many states require schooling and or proof that you can care for some of the animals, I know people who have wolves and they needed to pass a training coarse to be able to get their permits, there are also raise to release permits for baby animals such as deer, bears, pumas, skunks and eagles.

London & Sydney - My two cats, London and Sydney.
Hmm... Living with my parents (growing up and otherwise), we had a few birds, a few dogs, cats, at least one hamster, I think we even had fish at one point, rabbits, and tortoises. That may have been it, but it's possible I missed some. I don't think so, though. Now, we didn't have all these at the same time. This is just all the pets we had at some point. When I first moved out, I didn't have any animals, but I eventually got two kittens. They're almost 2 years old now.

I've had a variety as the kids were growing up. Have two dogs and two cats now and am content with that. But at one time or another we had the following: leopard frogs fish rats snake wood spider (caught in my own basement, eww) hermit crabs hamster I think it's important for kids to have pets. Think it gives them responsibility and really if they are interested they want to know all about the pet itself. Have to read what they eat, sleeping patters, when they hibernate. I have to admit I didn't care for a lot fot he 'pets' what passed through here, but I still believe that kids benefitted for having them.

I had 4 dogs as pets when i was young. I didn't have 4 dogs as pets all at once but one at a time. The trouble was one would die after the other. I missed my dogs. They were all so cool.

I've always had cats, always! Had a few dogs, don't get along as well with dogs. I have 3 cats and a ferret right now, they all get along for the most part. Oh yeah, also had a few hamsters growing up. Cats, I think, are the best. They pretty much take care of themselves, don't slobber on you, knock you over with happiness :), they even train you to feed them and let them out at the proper times lol.

I've had cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, rats, hamsters, fish (too many to count), a horse, and even a hermit crab...though not all at the same time! LOL Currently I have a couple of birds, dogs, and a fish. Yep, only one fish as it is a Betta. That's about it as far as pets go, though I'd love to have another cat one day...particularly a Siamese. They're so beautiful! Happy mylotting!

And guess I also had a small baby monkey which was till us till it became v naughty. We had two more dogs too. Now we have finally ended up with two more parrots.

I had a couple yirgs, a kind of little bird. But it does not belong to me now. My parents don't like pets at all,but I like playing with them and feedind them. Watching them growing is a beatific thing for me. When I move house, I had to give my cute birds to a child who loves my pet very much. I hope my yirgs are still alive and live a happy life.

nice, pets again..i have many pets at home, cats with their kittens, dogs with their puppies, chickens with their chicks and hundreds of doves, also a pig..our house seems to be a zoo, although cleaning is very much tiring, it also helps me relax every time i see my pets are playing, especially the pig, i love touching its vulnerable part where if you hold it an slowly rub it, the pig will get sleepy..haha..my problems are temporarily gone because my attention is focused on them..i love pets a lot..
