with the addition of ron artest, i really think the lakers are tougher this year.. not to mention another threat in offense, artest plays tough defense on anybody. kobe won't be guarding the opposing teams best man anymore, so he could put it up more in offense.. what do you think?

Well said...right! With Artest putting all the defensive chore on his shoulder, Kobe will insert more offense & try to be an effective facilatator next year... But Lakers defense will be the key to their success next season... Their top 5 players are all defensive-minded...Including Bynum for blocks, Lamar for his length & speed, Fisher for his best offensive foul-drawer defense...Gasol had already proven that he can stand pound for pound against much stronger & bigger player (center) & Artest & Kobe were proven great one on one players.

They will be having a hard time defending their title even with Ron Artest. Especially now that Lamar Odom might not be back and other teams like cleveland, orlando, san antonio have retooled their lineup. Though, the lakers will be a perennial contender.

If Odom doesn't quit this team.....that's the premise.Of course,there are mant other competitive teams,Boston will be the biggest challenger,I think.

This all depends, Artest is a good player but can he get along with the team. The Lakers already had great chemistry without Artest. In my opinion they would have been better off bringing back Trevor Ariza instead of getting Artest. Every team he has been on he ended up being more of a distraction and he already talked about hoodelizing the Lakers. What is the deal with that he just needs to stop acting up and just play the game.

Yes cos the additional fire power of Ron "the Hard Nose" Artest. He can deliver the goods as new ally of Kobe "the Black Mamba" Bryant. The Black Mamba can strike you 10 or more times can Kobe reach 100 plus? Possible! Cos there are more teams and there are more competitive. The Lakers go for the 16 then 17 for the tie the 18th the most. They are now the new Dynasty need 3 more to be the supreme in NBA.
