Every penny counts!

Do you try and save every month? I like to try and put something away even if only a little bit. Lately it seems less and less but, as the saying goes every little helps so do you try and save even if only a small amount?

Years ago my ex recommended I set up a SAYE (save as you earn) with a couple of building societies, back then the interest rates were pretty high, it was direct debit and the money was taken out each month, it was only a small amount and I didn't miss it, well over the years the monthly deposits plus interest have added up and thankfully as times get harder I have that money to fall back on. I do try and put money by when I can but as I am not working I don't have much spare cash and I have just had a big car bill so I was fortunate to have a rainy day account but that doesn't last for ever! This recession is really biting.

Yes SAYE is a good scheme and yo're quite right that if it is a little you hardly notice it going out!

I save every month.I try to save at least 30-40% of my salary.it feels good when you save money for your future.you don't have to worry about anything if in case something bad happens.you can have emergency money in times of need or if you lose your job.it is comforting when you aren't worrying where to get extra money for emergency purposes.

I always try to save. Even if it's just a penny i'll save it. I'm the type that if I see a penny on the floor I will pick it up and everyone will look at my like I'm crazy...like it's just a penny. But every little bit counts. I also save a little bit of money I make from the sites I earn from online. That helps me out as well.

Yeah we have a savings account and part of my husband's pay goes right into the account and it's online so to get money out takes usually 2-3 days so we really never draw off of it.

Yes saving is very important! I try to save at least 10% of any monies that I make. This includes money made online, money from my work, any monies I get as gifts as well. I also save all of my change and store it up for a rainy day. After I have filled my large container I will roll it and either deposit it or use it for a special treat. I wish I had started this a long time ago. Having some sort of nest egg in place really helps out when things get bad!

A penny saved is a penny earned. But dadgummit, it's getting harder and harder everyday to make any kind of savings lately. These economic times has affected me and my savings as of late. I've been putting away as much as I can. But it's been tough. At one point - I had no choice but to draw money from my then savings account. And now I only have $5.00 in there! =/ And I have tightened the belt with spending and what-not. Hopefully it'll pick up soon!

I am not always able to put something back every month but am now working Dave Ramsey's plan and working towards putting back an emergency fund and paying off my debts.
