Home alone or going out with your friends/family?

Have you ever refuse and offer to going out with friends or family because you simply prefer to home alone? I often do this because I love stay alone at home. It give me time to do anything freely. I can play piano as long as I like (If there's my family, they'll say it's noisy and they want to watch tv), or just spending time browsing while listening classic music.. it's so quiet, and I love it! I do this when there's no clear purpose to going out with them,, for example just wanna out for lunch(I can make my own lunch) or watch movie I don't really interested in,, What about you? do you mostly prefer to going out or stay at home alone?

I think we are same in common. I prefer to stay home. I am actually happy whenever my family are out. It gives me freedom to do whatever I really wanted to do at home. I can play my kind of music. Well, I'm actually into adult alternative. I love listening to Rob Thomas and other alternative artists. I listen to the music while lying down in the sofa. After which, I used to watch movies in the tv set alone. I like doing this. I don't actually watched blockbuster films with someone in my side. I don't want to hear them criticizing about the film that we are watching.

I completely agree. I like the fact that when you are alone, you don't have to worry about anyone else. You get to be in your own little world. It sounds kind of selfish, but at the same time everyone needs time to focus on themselves! In my opinion, it makes you a happier person.

i can refuse an offer from a friend but not always...and an offer from my family is something i don't refuse...whatever the purpose of going with them, the fact that they ask me to join them makes me feel that they want me to be with them...and i want them to be happy and besides, being with my family, going out with them is something that i really like...even how lazy i feel when they ask me, i really go...and enjoy with them... there are also times that i want to be alone, and when that time comes, my family feels it coz i am not talking much and i just stay in the room...and they don't bother me... now that its just me and my husband in the house...there are times that i enjoy when he is not here...coz that is the time when i can do all my chores in the house with out disturbance and spend some more time in mylot! have a nice day!

I try and make sure I have my quality time with myself, but if friends or family invite me to whatever, whether I want to or not, I take the leap. I want no regrets in my life as you life ends in a split second. Generally I will pull myself up and get in the shower, that will renew me. At the end of the visit or event I generally am very happy I went. If you turn down too many invites, they may not ask you again, and that may be a time you wish they did. Fellowship is good for you.

yes karissa i agree with you... this life is really unpredictable, we will never know what will happen next and so as long as we have time and chances, better spend it with the one that we love coz if that chance pass and that's the last time you were able to do that, we will just regret it when time comes...so cherish every moments and chances that we have with our family...we cannot turn back the hands of time...

Yeah, it's hard to tag along with anyone that has specified interests. Even I have hard times asking anyone to join me and they have no interests in what I like, such as going out to Renaissance Festival -- Who wants to go? They want to go to church and I want to go bar. HA! I told them if I go to their church, and they have to go with me to a bar. Difficult?? I guess this has to do with individuals' interests. I want to see an action movie and they want a bloody horror movie. I don't like horror movie however an action is much better. That depends on individuals' interests. I'd invite friends over for veggie burgers and I got dirty looks from my friends when I say "veggie burgers." I rather go solo eating my veggie burgers before I go over to a dinner, just to have a drink and NOT eating their meats. Then, everything is great and fun.

It depends on purpose, and if its not very intresting or a necessary one, i would prefer to stay at hoome alone, and enjoy my peace. Somehow i feel better staying alone, wit no one around to disturb me... Absolute pin drop silence, just my music, or my TV, with remote in my hand..

Hello Chrysan I am retired now, my younger son and his wife are with me always, my elder son lives far with his family and kids at his work place, my wife is now there with them for a month.. Quite naturally i feel so lonely, it is difficult to pass time alone, so i go to friends homes, watch tv, read papers. Thanks for sharing. Welcome always. Cheers. Professor

Hi Professor Waw, you're a professor! Well, I sometimes wonder what will I feel when I'm getting older and retired like you, maybe at that time I will appreciate friends, family, and people around me better,,hehehe :) Now I'm still young and feel that everything around me just too noisy. I just wanna be alone and relax, doing my hobby, than going out with friends or family. I guess it just the matter of time and phase of life,,hahaha Thanks for sharing :)

Yes, very often, I prefer being at home. Especially if I've got things to do at home. My preference for staying at home is the same as yours. I feel free being alone. If I am hungry I can cook or step out for a while to a nearby foodstall for a take away food.

hahaha,,nice to know we have same preferences on that one! That doesn't mean we don't like together with friends or family but..it's free! home alone,, we can save time and do the things we need to do. Thaks for your response^^,,

It's a toss up for me. I do prefer to stay home alone, but it is a better choice to be with friends and family whenever possible. Not just because of the whole "you're here today and gone tomorrow" thing, but being social and interacting with people is best for your own personal growth. My sister always wants me to go shopping with her, and it seems that she literally takes forever! However, it's best to spend the time with family and friends any day. You always have the option to be alone. My advice-- for every 5 times you are asked to go out, go 4 times. Unless there is a monetary problem go.

With the amount I am working, right now, staying home alone sounds like a wonderful idea. I am actually hiding right now for some peace and quiet. My family is over at our house. They are outside on the patio talking, and I am here in my room, on the computer typing away. I just need to relax today and I really don't want to entertain or even really talk to anyone. But, on the other hand, when I am well rested, I enjoy going out and socializing.

I prefer to stay home alone before, my wife always complained for that but I didn't take it seriously. And now my wife and I was living in different city, I wish I could have spent more time to stay with her. I miss her so much, I am going to quit this job to go home, to spent more time with my wife. I think you should spent more time with your family, not just doing things alone.

Hi there ChrysanTflower! Yes, I have refused going out with friends or family just so I can stay home alone. I have done that several times already. There are instances when I just want to be on my own. These are moments when I just want to be in my room either go online, watch TV or just sleep. Staying at home is not at all bad. In fact, I am happy that sometimes I get to save money by just staying home.

I do love to be home alone. I would prefer that over going out any day. I like to be able to do what I want when I want and listen to what music I want as loud as I want. I am just really independent and enjoy my alone time. It is soemthign I have grown fond of and hope to hae it my whole life.

Yeah, there was a time that I refused to go out because I prefer to stay at home. I am a homebody person. For me going gimmicks, hanging out with friends has a right time. And I'm done with those things when I was single and working. When I was in college I used to attend fiesta's and any celebrations with my college friends. And when I started working I go out once a week with my friends. Now it's differnet I'm already married so I go out now with my own family. If we have free time we visited my hometown. I only have time to see my friends if there is occassions like Baptismal, birthdays. I am happy in that way I know my priorities in life. Happy myloting!

It is so rare when I get to be home alone, that I forgot when was the last time that I was truly home alone. It seems like a luxury of sorts but not something I really want for the moment, I know and knew people who spent a lot of time alone, it was not by choice and it was sad at times. Enjoy your friends and family while you can.
