When i put together my first computer two years ago, i had not been aware of the capabilities and differences between graphics cards sold, so my first card was an Nvidia GeForce 8600GT OC, and i though it was good until i had realized a year later that my card sucked and $200 dollars was gone, ATi has always been a fierce competitor, always one step ahead, so my question is, How much better is an ATi graphics card VS a Nvidia graphics card?

Hey, I prefer nVidia over ATI, because of personal experience. My brother has a computer with 64MB graphic card (small, I know) and I have a 128MB ATI Graphic card, yet my computer struggles to play Age of Empires 3, and his plays it with no lag, even though my computer has got better specifications. Really weird... Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

I prefer ATI over Nvidia. The are few reason: 1. ATI cards are more high end (got directX 11) 2. do not need an ATI chipset for CrossFire unlike Nvidia that needs a Nvidia Chipset for SLI even though Nvidia came out 1st but somehow ATI is getting better and better so i prefer ATI. BTW im using Nvidia cause i have no money to buy a new GPU

You forgot to mention that ATI cards are a lot cheaper than Nvidia, and they provide better performance than Nvidia.

Always nVidia.. the nVidia is faster... of course do not compare an mx440 with a hd6970.. :)))

Well, i don't even know which one is on my pc. I have only heard about ATI, and thats what my friend's laptop uses. We play games on the laptop and it's ok.

Generally, nVidia concentrates on performance - bringing out the fastest and highest fps... Whereas ATI, on the otherhand, concentrates more on quality - truer and more vibrant colour reproduction and minimal on-screen artifacts...

I always preferred ATI-graphic card for playing. ATI had always been more worthy than it. Lets see what others have to say about this discussion.
