There are days when I feel old, there are instances when I feel I'm super young. Do you think you're old? Why or why not? What's the measurement of being 'old' for you?

Age is all in the mind, just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The saying goes, 'you are as old as you feel'. Some days I'm ancient. LOL. Some of us, however, were born old - at least that is how I feel sometimes. By old, I mean that I feel the weight of responsibility; although my growing aches and pains also tend to remind me I'm not in my 20s [or 30s] anymore. My husband, on the other hand, is eternally young [unless he's feeling sick or his gout is acting up] and he's 17 years older than I am! He always thinks like a youth, excited about life; he even gets excited over little things [like young ones do]. Of course, now that I'm his 'little girl' I guess I will never be allowed to be old. LOL. Sometimes I think I need to carry the weight of responsibility for him, for my children, his daughter, and for my grandchildren - yeppers; I'm old alright! LOL. However, there are times when I try and lighten up, and act a little younger - times when I'm with my grandchildren, or when I try and see things through my husband's eyes [when he's acting like a kid].

No way, laydee! While 62 is rather a high number, it's just a number. I refuse to be what's traditionally seen as old. Every now and then, my husband and I will look at each other and ask when this aging thing happened. It certainly wasn't something we were aware was happening, but it has. So what? We're young and strong and totally NOT as we expect older people to be...

Well, I used to ask my grandmother who was 80 how it feels like to be 80. She simply said her mind feels no age, yet her body cannot cope with what she wants to do. hehehe.. I miss my granny.

Like you there are days that I feel super old and other days that I feel like I can do anything. I think most ppl are like that. I also seem to get depressed more b/c it seems like my body is falling apart the older I get. As for "old", I guess someone in their 70's. It's funny though b/c when I was a teen, 30 was old. When I was in my 20's, 40 was old. Now that I'm 41, 70 is old. By the time I'm 70, 90 will seem old LOL [b]~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**[/b]

I must admit I am beginning to feel old. I never really thought about it as being an issue. Since my 21 year old daughter moved back in is when I really felt it. I am 39. I had trouble typing that! I see her going out and doing things I used to do. I dont go out to clubs anymore because of all the fighting and other nonsense going on. I like to go out and dance, act silly, just have fun. The last time I went out my friend was hit with a bottle. Its as if the next generation has hit 21 and now we're in for it. I cant handle it. I guess that is a sign of age. I feel as if I am not the cool one anymore. When my daughters friends are over they'll say "Hello mam" Mam? Im not a mam. lol I am a MS. I am old. I must remember that age is only a number. Its all about how we feel. dl

Hehehe.. I think it's because we see or have someone who's 'younger' than us that we tend to feel or see our limitations.

Age is only a number and Old is only an attitude. Its how you perceive both that keeps you young at heart!

to me , being old means that you have think you have lived a complete life, you do not want anything more from life, you have no hopes left . you have started to believe that life is over. etc. before these feelings start governing your conciousness, you are not old - whatever your age may be. Being old is only psychological. It is one's hopelessness that leads to the manifestation of old-age symptoms. you can feel old at 14 or you can feel old at 65 . it's different for everybody. :s what do you think ? (If you are still an ambitious person at 70 , and not let hopelessness dwindle your enthusiasm for life, you can still feel young - i believe)

Good Day laydee! I am already 38 but I have never felt old for my age. It's only my arthritis that reminds me that I'm already 38. Other than that, I still feel and think I'm only in my 20's.

I think of myself as young at heart. There are things I did as a child that I'd still like to do, like climbing trees and swinging. On occasions I do swing, but I've gotten too heavy to climb trees.

even i don't think i'm old but something i do in my life really makes me feel old. i always go to bed earlier than most of local people. i keep very healthy lifestyle like old people. i save money for future, especially for the time when i retired. i also pay attetion a lot on everything i do or i should say i'm very careful. I have friends they all are older a lot than me. i feel difficult to make friends with local young people or we all feel lack of common. in one word i think i'm OLD although many people would say i'm still young and have long way to go in my life.

Hi, I can understand and really appreciate that feeling. On the whole I don't feel particularly old. However, when I think about or discuss an event, a film etc that still seems recent to me, then realise it was so many years ago - then I start to feel old! Another trigger is when it occurs to me how much older my friends & family's children are! That's when I realise I'm now 36, & no longer 20!

i think im getting older by my age. but when it comes to my mindset, i guess i am not. i am still so young at heart. but when im totally stressed out from work and from all those problems, that time i would truly think myself so old. but when im gay and happy, i know i am young again! jhelai

old woman - oldies
Hi there laydee! Being old for me is someone with gray hair, dentures and someone who is slow paced when walking. So i think i'm not yet old.Ü Sometimes, i feel changes though like i am easily fatigued or stressed or can not even play for a long time with the dogs. So i guess i pretty miss my childhood days. Maybe you too.

There are times when I feel old. For example, my 17 year old brother just got his first car. At the same time, I'm 21 so I feel young. I feel young because I know I still have a lot more of my life left to live, or at least I hope I do. I might feel old by the time I'm 35 or 40. Old and young are relative. Compared to a newborn, I'd be old. Compared to a 65 year old, I'd be young.

Yes there are days I feel old. But I know I am not old. Its the wear and tear on your body from what you do or the way you think that makes you feel that way about yourself. When people look at me they think I am 20 years old but I am not. I am in my 30's almost 40.
