Soo does anyone here like Mac n Cheese? If so how do you go about preparing it? I myself? Well I start with plain old generic cheap brand mac n cheese and prepare that as is. During this step I may add in some of my PacMan shaped hot dogs I discussed in my Ramen discussion. Then when I get to add butter and orange powder I'll add probably a good 2 cups of shredded cheese (preferably taco seasoned 4 cheese mexican blend) and nacho cheese. Sometimes some tuna or pre cooked southwest flavored grilled chicken (if I already have not added hot dogs)...oh and hot sauce and mustard (which may not sound good but it works rather well :D ) Occasionally I have a side of broccoli or frozen mixed veggies and a side of bread and butter (usually resulting in me putting a forkful of mac n cheese w/whatever else Ive added into a slice of bread creating some sort of sandwich sandwich :P ) SOMETIMES I am feeling really fancy I'll butter up some tortillas and warm them up on a pan and then put a couple forkfuls of mac n cheese in said tortillas to make some sort of mac n cheese burrito looking thing which is all sorts of delicious)

Well I love my Baked Mac and Cheese. I use elbow macaroni, Extra Sharp Chedder Cheese, a little milk and bread crumbs. Butter the pan, cook the macaroni as directed on box. Slice the cheese in squares. Then make layers starting with macaroni then a layer of cheese. When finished dribble milk over the entire pan than top it off with bread crumbs. Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes or till toasted on top. It's delicious.

My man makes fun of the way that I make macaroni and cheese. I always thought that Kraft was the best, but it turns out, I was WAY wrong! I accidentally bought some cheap generic stuff when I wasn't paying attention, and went to make if for my kids a few days later. I know it is crazy, but I don't put in all the noodles. I keep about one fifth of them out. Then, when they are good and cooked, but not to much, I drain the water, put in just a tiny bit of milk, and scoop of butter, mix it in really good, and then add the cheese. It has a wonderful flavor that you just can't get when you use all the noodles. Hmmm...thinking of this makes me want some, but it is only 9am, so I will have to wait for lunch. Way to make a pregnant girl crave fattening food b1zzar0!

We love having macaroni and cheese in our house. Whenever I'm in a hurry we use the already boxed stuff but I prefer mine homemade. The homemade kind I use store bought noodles and slice up Velveeta cheese then add a touch of milk. For spices I use a dab of salt, lots of pepper (white if I wanna hide it from the boyfriend) and garlic. We have eaten it with things like tuna, hot dogs, broccoli, hamburger, and even polish sausages cooked in. Also have tried the cook then bake and it tastes pretty good that way to.

OMG I totally forgot about baked. of course Ive only had real baked mac n cheese a couple of times but it was rather delicious that way. I never had polish sausages cooked IN the mac n cheese but I have had it as a side and that too was yummy :D Thanks for reminding me of that.

You're very welcome. I think I like it better baked than cooked on the stove because it soaks the flavor in better. My boyfriend is the total opposite but then again I tell him he's an alien. LOL

I seriously feel hungry now :) I really love mac and cheese. I made a gourmet version once using 5 different cheeses - it tasted really great! I can't remember the exact kinds of cheese that I used but i remember adding a lot of cream, milk and some parsley. YUM! Oh, wow. I think i want some! I think I will be making mac and cheese tomorrow for dinner! haha :)

I made my own mac and cheese myself once too. I was craving it, and I didn't have any in the house, but I had tons of cheese. I cooked the macaroni, and added butter, milk and cheese and waited until the cheese was melted. Then I put parmesean cheese on top. It was delicious, and I am not even sure if I did it right!

Well I love mac and cheese, but I haven't had much practice making mac and cheese from scratch, so I usually just make the kind that comes in a box, but I dont care much for those thin boxes becuse some of them tend to taste like the box and just cheap tasting, I much prefer craft cheese deluxe it comes in those bigger boxes and the needles almost taste like home made and that brand comes with real creamy cheese sauce. As for making home made mac and cheese my mom is better at it then I am, she buy the macaroni noodles in the bag and then she adds real cheese and melts it, and she adds milk and butter, and whenever I get tired of those box brands I just ask my mom to make her version of home made mac and cheese instead, lol.

Oh my goodness! This is an interesting way to prepare mac n cheese! I usually add a bunch of cheese on top, too. That, or crumbled bacon! Recently, the velveeta mac and cheese cups have been on sale for a dollar, and I have had a dollar off two coupon, and there have been coupon doublers at my store. I scored a TON of free mac an cheese to bring to work! Velveeta recently came out with mac and cheese with broccoli in it. It's so good!

Start printing out coupons, and hope for the best! Saving a buck on two is pretty cool too, even if they aren't doubled! I have a good site that I use for printing coupons. I could help you out if you're interested!

I love mac'n'cheese. My favorite is Stouffer's. I don't really like the ones with powder, but I suppose they're alright. If I'm gonna buy the boxed kind, I'll usually get Velveeta Shells and Cheese since it usually uses a more sauce-like cheese mix instead of a powder. I also like it best (after Stouffer's).

My mother makes the BEST mac and cheese! I have tried to duplicate it but it's never as good as hers. I don't care for the boxed mac and cheese, I have to add stuff to it so I figure I might as well make it all from scratch!

Sounds good the way you doctor up the cheap mac and cheese. I use the cheap brands too, but don't add anything extra. I just serve it as a side dish. My mom used to add the hotdogs to mac and cheese. She would also add tuna and cream of chicken soup for a creamy main dish. All this talk has made me hungry and also brought to mind the Mac and Cheese my niece made for us a christmas. I feel I must share the best mac and cheese recipe I've ever eaten. Crock Pot Macaroni 1 lb. elbow macaroni, cooked 1 stick margarine 3 eggs, beaten 1 large can evaporated milk 1/2 lb. Velveeta cheese, cubed 1 cup milk Salt and pepper to taste 3 cups sharp cheddar, grated 1. Put cooked macaroni in 6 quart crock pot. 2. Add all ingredients except grated sharp cheese. 3. Mix well and add more milk if needed to make it very soupy. 4. Put grated cheese on tip and cook on low setting fro 2-3 hours.

I can't say that I don't like mac-n-cheese. I will eat it, especailly if someone else happens to be cooking it. However, I have to be in the mood for it for myself to make it. Maybe I had it too often as kids, and I'm rebelling. I don't know. My husband likes to put pepperoni and tuna fish into his mixture, which isn't all that bad. I sometimes like to put hot dogs into it. Although, I don't think my mixture is quite as stange as my husband's.

We eat plenty of Mac 'n Cheese around here! Especially since we've had kids it's a guaranteed win with them. I like adding turkey burger meat & salsa to mine. My hubby actually makes really good mac 'n cheese, but that's probably cause i"m too lazy to put extra cheese in it cause i"m using it for something else for a meal.

Hey b1zarr0 Great topic - macaroni and cheese brings back so many great childhood memories lol. Although I could never exactly make it, whenever I wanted it my mother would make it for me - I grew up on the Kraft brand at first, but then switched to a local one called Tenderoni (

I love mac and cheese. I just make it from the store bought box. My favorite though is home made. My fiance's mom makes it every so often. She will put shells in a big dish, spread the cheese on it, then extra cheese slices, then cooks it in the oven. The cheesier the better. It always taste great.

I like the cheap brand mac n cheese too! I really don't eat it as often as I used to because I am trying to watch what I eat for health reasons. However, when my kids were small we ate it all the time it wasa staple at our house! One of our favorite was to cook some weiners with it. Another alternative is to heat up some Ranch Style beans and maybe a veggie. I do keep some easy mac on hand for those occasional benges where I just have to have some! That and a fresh slice of tomato with cucmber hits the spot!!
