Can anyone teach me how to earn by blogging?

I am a nursing student and I'll be graduating next year in March. Here in the Philippines, nurses' salary is so low. Like, it cannot support all of the basic neccessities. What's worst is that we have to be a volunteer worker in a hospital for 6 months before we can be regularized in our job and when you are a volunteer nurse you are not earning even a single cent. I am so worried about the future. I really want to earn extra by blogging but I really don't know how. I have tried PTCs before but I have stopped because there are some several sites that did not pay me. I will only go for blogging. Can anyone please help? Please teach me how to blog. Thanks.

There's been a lot of good advice alread and would second the one which says to take a look at problogger. The site has so much information on starting blogging, how to improve an existing blog, how to fine tune posts etc etc that you can pretty much find a good answer for nearly any question you can find. One thing I will add is that when you start blogging you can quite literaly write off the first 3 months when it comes to making any money and then it can be a few more months after that before it actually starts to feel like the effort is really worth it. But don't let this put you off as it is those who work hard and consistently try to add new content and improve their blog whilst also promoting it that actually start to reap rewards for their efforts. To put a personal slant on this, at the end of December 2008 I start a Movie Review site, for the first 3 months the only consistant traffic was from me visiting the site when I added new content and earnings were nothing. But because I carried on adding and improving content after those 3 months I started to notice traffic coming from the search engines and since then I have had a 10-20% increase on traffic every month and whilst I am still not making much money I know this will come as long as I keep on pushing forwards.

From what I've learned so far, there are basically 2 types of blogging. Blogging for yourself (like a diary or some sort) and blogging for the audience. Do you have a special interest like wanting to blog about a certain hobby or music or books, for instance? Then keep it that way. Say you choose to blog about books. Keep that blog solely about books. Whenever you read a book or come across a special and interesting one, blog about it. The idea of having a niche blog is not to attract traffic only but to attract regular visitors. You would want to target a blog that will make people bookmark your blog and to keep coming again. Having a free counter to access all this is the best because you can analyze how many comes first time and how many repeated visitors they are. Those are the ones that will provide you revenue, because they are repeated visitors means they like your contents. Even if you add your posts to social sites, if your contents are not up to date, people won't really come so much. So, it's a balance of these 2. Blogging for money is not easy but blogging for passion is. I suggest you build up slowly and you will reach a comfortable level and I don't guarantee but if you can keep up with that niche and show an interesting blog, traffic will always be there.. Good luck..

I agree with Zed. Sometimes, we blog so eagerly to get more money, and yet we become frustrated that the blog serves not our purpose - to express ourselves. It is not my full-time job. I want to blog for fun. But I don't want any money-earning opportunity to be missed, nor the money to be crawling slow.. It is difficult to find a returning audience. :p

I have experienced earning money through blogging. As everyone said you need to have SEO skills ( but when I did this I didn't knew about SEO up to now but still I'm earning money) and that is indeed most important to get as much money and also you'll need visitors. Once you have set up your blog,( I think it need to be your own domain, I'm not quite sure on that), you can use below sites to help you. They're the one who pay you by writing a sponsor post, just like creating a review on specific websites. www.payperpost.com www.smorty.com www.blogsvertise.com www.blogtoprofit.com I'm not quite sure about Payperpost, but the three below are definitely worth it because I've earn from them. The payment can is minumum $6 up to $10.
