This incident happened in April. Our beloved former President Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam was deliberately put through security check by the Continental Airlines of U. Dr. Kalam is a VVIP and he is exempted from all kinds of security checks. How can the security staff of Continental commit such a blunder? Don't they recognise this person? The airline should not be allowed to get away with a apology. it is a serious matter. to subject a former President of India to security check is an insult to the people of this great nation. MPs with criminal record get away even after boarding aircrafts without a ticket citing they are eligible to get a seat under the MP quota. Kalam is not a ordinary politician who became a president. He was associated with the scientific and defense establishments for close 5 decades. HE is a Visionary, who had great plans for country and its people. Is this the way we respect the former First Citizen? Now I ask all Indians here at MyLot, What is your reaction? Be bold. Tell me what you feel about the governments reaction on this. IF you are angry, show it here.

Hi, It was a shameful incident not only for our government but for our whole nation. If the person is not famous then we can understand it is a mistake. Here Dr. Kalam is a simple person with great personality and even school kids can easily recognize him. We the people of India really honored with his presidentship. I really don’t understand how the security people behave strangely to our former President. Can an apology will heal his hurting. Let us hope our government should take proper steps to avoid such kind of incidents in future.

Its a shame that people cant even recognise a former President of the nation. Dr.Kalam is not a politician, so he did not comment on the issue. that is the mark of a man's greatness and simplicity, eventhough the biased media tried its best to get some kind of evocative reply from the President. I do not remember the President of India or the Prime Minister taking any serious view of this incident. For them it happened to someone who is nobody now. all that we can do is hope this wont happen again. Thanks for the participation.

Wait, can you anticipate the hullabaloo had it been someone from the Gandhi or Nehru family? Seriously, even I found it downright insulting for a man of the caliber of Dr.Kalam to be treated this way. He's given a lot to this nation and is this what we repay? Already, people like him are difficult to encounter in India and top of it such careless blunders. Is this what they call the superpower of the future? The Government as usual can only render a lame apology and cannot go beyond. And btw, what is the BJP doing? Still in the 'chintan' mode for its pathetic loss in the recent elections? Let's apologize on those idiots' behalf here.

Had it been some one from the nehru/ghandy (now they call it gandhi) family, parliament would have passed a legislation and discussed it for a few days and wasted tax payers' money for setting up an enquiry commission(s), probably a JPC. What is the use of an apology that that does not mean anything other than a few meaningless words? No party has any kind of seriousness about the issues concerning the nation. if they get a issue, its only for some publicity or attention diversion. We need real change, probably a catastrophic one. Thanks for the participation.

its not a question of rules for every one. what do you mean by broadminded? He was our President. He is not a ordinary street side politician to be subjected to such proceedures. He has certain privilages. That is why he is President. May be is not President now. But he will be still addressed as President. He did not even create a scene at the place as many of our politicians do. There is a rule that exempts All former Presidents from any security check proceedures. The airline violated that rule. Should we turn blind to law breakers? Or is it broadmindedness to break law?

Well thats really shocking and its an great insult for Kalam sir. But the great part is he is the man who says no partiality and all are equal. He never poses himself a special or important person. If atall he was not under security checks, he would asked them to carry out the security checks becoz that his greatness and simplicity!! But its a request to those government..to respect and tressure this great man!
