Since the day Mom told me that my nephew was sick I had a strong feeling that the poor nephew of mine has dengue. of course, i kept telling that but they won't budge, as if they didn't believe me. my mom's home and she told me after asking him. I was right, he has dengue. Basically, Mom got upset of her sister-in-law having too many plants in their front yard. guess even though this nephew of mine is the most healthiest of all, he can still get a illness such as this. if he get's that what more of my eldest nephew who rarely eats rice, only eats tuna, ham, foods from fast food restaurant. but i hate being right..not this way

Well, it's not only through plants that you get dengue, there are many ways you could get it as well. Anyhow, I'm hoping your nephew is okay and hoping they didn't find out too late.

No, it's not the plants, it's the mosquitoes living in the plants. because we ave a garden here too and i had to use a electric net to electrocute them. i get at least 10 out of 100 mosquitoes.and besides they didn't put screen in their windows to keep mosquitoes from getting in.

Yeah, I know it's not the plants, I said it's not just through plants (mosquitoes living in them), it's also the canals and any junk that are unmoved over long periods of time. Plus, I guess them not screening their home is the biggest point of how the kid got it. Tsk.

i hope he's doing well.. make sure he doesn't eat dark colored foods and watch out for his platelet count.. also get him to use soft bristled tooth brush to prevent bleeding..

Hi Letran, so sorry to hear that. Both my brothers suffered from dengue a few years ago. We had no plant in the house, but the whole area was a dengue outbreak area, and mosquitoes fly everywhere. Both of them stayed in the hospital for a few days. The youngest one suffered more, apparently, the mosquitoes attacked the older brother, before biting him. Anyway both of them lost a few kilograms and got three weeks medical leaves. Now they know more about dengue fever than me, at least they know the difference between the four different kind of dengue fevers. Hope your cousin gets well soon!

It is better to know early if some one is suffer from Dengue. So he or she can get treatment or medication as early as possible. Maybe the plants that your at relative there cause many mosquito? There are many other reason too. Lat 2 months I have fever for many days, it gone and came back agin. I went to hospital for some blood test, end up I was lucky I am not on Dengue. Take care friend.

At least you were right about it. there' s nothing wrong with guessing. it gave an idea for them to take him to the hospital

I hate to show my stupidity..but what is Dengue? Sometimes it doesn't feel good to be right..and sometimes we don't wanna be right..because the outcome is not so good. Hope this nephew gets better.

i wouldnt like to be right like this too if this happened to me. my second child had dengue maybe four years ago. and i felt it was dengue too. the too high fever that will easily be gone and shoot up again. i saw rashes after three days of on and off fever. but how was your nephew now? my child just drank gatorade and every morning we went to her pediatrician to check her blood. so far the dcotor did not advice us to be at the hospital. it was better (i guess) that way. so the only thing we did was the usual 4 hours drinking of medicine, taking a lot of rest and drinking gatorade and every morning blood check.

That's Bad. don't worry he will be in our evening prayers. it's hard to believe because he's a lot healthier than any of the three.

Awwww, poor kid. but at least your guess was right. it has to be some stagnant water near or inside the house. i can see how hard it is for the poor kid. but you know you shouldn't keep guessing because they may end up getting worried. just be quiet the next time one of them gets sick.
