I am a proud owner of a 2year old Tennessee Walking Horse which also is a stud, I have had him since he was around 4 months old and have worked with him on social skills since day one. His name is Carmel Bacardi and now is 2 years old. Carmel was very unfriendly and shy when I first recieved him and after about three months my family finally got some trusted out of this young man, the purpose of getting Carmel was for my daughter (7) to show. I didn't realize just how much work I had brought on for myself and family. After about six months Carmel and my family had developed a great bond we now have him halter and lead trained, and are working on trailer loading. Now Carmel is around one year old and we have accomplished alot with this young man. Now that we have a trusting relationship I started working with him on picking his hoofs up and cleaning them and with brushing his tail. We also have started showing Carmel the saddle and blanket to get him comfortable with this for future use. After working him in a round pin for several months and working with saddles and bridles and trailers he is now a work in progress. As him being a stud I was very up tight about telling my daughter on him for there nature as for I found out that this was just talk. We have worked and now have my fine two year old stud colt as a fine tuned machine and wouldn't trade him for anything in the world and my daughter loves him to death.
