I had my complete curretage procedure three days ago and everything was painful after the anesthesia wore out.Let's not just deal with the emotional trauma because I am not yet ready to talk about that. Right now, I am wondering when all the physical pain would be gone. My pelvic is still hurting. My OB prescribed celebrex for pain reliever. What were your ordeal when you have a miscarriage or abortion?

I haven't ever had a miscarriage. I know some ladies are able and willing to let it be over naturally. They bleed a lot and get strong period like pains. Sometimes it is necessary for a lady that has suffered a miscarriage to go to have an operation called D&C in hospital. After that I would imagine a lady would have pain in the pelvic region for about one week. Good luck. Take care.

When I had my miscarriage, I was lucky enough to not have to have a D&C, but despite that there was still a tremendous amount of physical pain for a week after experiencing the miscarriage. I honestly wish that I could be of more help to you based on the procedure that you had to undergo, but not having been through that myself, I can't help you. My OB also gave me a prescription for pain medicine and I continued to feel some degree of physical pain through those, but not as tremendous as what I would have experienced otherwise.

I had a miscarriage on Valentines Day this year, but luckily did not require a DNC. However, that did not stop me from being in pain for quite some time. I had cramps that werr almost unbearable to deal with on top of the emotional roller coaster I was on. I was given Loritab for pain but I can tell you that it only dulled it. After about a week my bleeding stopped and I thought I was okay, but blood tests kept revealing that my hormone levels were still extremely high so I was having blood work done almost daily. Then while waiting to pick up my daughter from school I started bleeding out while sitting in the car. I almost passed out just trying to get to the hospital to be checked out again. It was one of the scariest ordeals I have ever been through. Even though I want to try again for another baby when I remember everything I went through I am still reluctant out of fear it will happen again.
