Dreading seeing certain people on Holidays?

Anybody have family or in-laws that just seem to try to make everybody miserable during family get togethers? Everyone is always expecting her to be nasty and say rude things and she always does.

Been there done that many times. For some reason it always seems to be someone on my husbands side that is always like that. Judging us for one reason or another, and never seeming to be Happy with what we do, or have done. It does get quite annoying and sometimes makes me want to stay as far away from them, and the situations as I can. Plus with having BAD memories of the Holidays stemming back from my Childhood, I just sometimes wish the Holidays would hurry and get over with.

I had that same problem with my ex husbands mother and sister...I was married to him for almsot 15 years and I hated holdays with a passion..they decide they didn't like me before I even met them and I could never do anything even halway right in my ex mother-in-laws eyes..thank God I don't have to deal with them anymore. I still have the new 'dreaded person' but it's much easier since everyone else dreads seeing her also. I'm very sorry to hear that you have bad holiday memories from childhood..it'll be over soon..only 24 more days!

I have learned over the years not being with relatives to enjoy the time when we are able to get together. We let by gones be by gones for the short amount of time we get together. We save them for the phone calls later. Who is it you are dreading? Maybe someone should have a talk with her before your get together. Does she do this for attention?

It's sister-in-law and nobody says anything to her because she has been this way since she was a child. She does it because she has very big jealousy issues plus blames EVERYTHING on someone else. Says really mean and nasty things or just does the total ignoring thing to family members. She also has a personality disorder called Borderline Personality and unless you know someone that's Borderline you wouldn't believe the things they do. The world has to revolve around them and their problems. There will never be any kind of change..She's 30 years old and it just gets worse instead of better. Thanks for your response!

Our family most of the time get along when we gather together, but I think everyone has one person on the holidays that they dread seeing if not more *lol* I think it's natural.

Yes it does seem like every family has at least one person that they don't look forward to seeing but of course everyone is nice and acts like everything is just wonderful..lol

Been there done that. My Mom is the type who feels Sorry for everyone, and tries to help, and ends up with everyone taking advantage of her to where we get quite annoyed, and never want to talk with them, or the other people involved.

I have certain aunts that always seem to comment on who's looking fat and who needs plastic surgery. I am dreading seeing them! And they wonder why their 9 year old has anorexia!
