I've got currencies from USA, Canada, UK, NZ, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. They're of too little denominations to use, but I just collect them as a hobby.

Only legal foreign currency notes can be kept with us and that too if we have a proper reason. Different countries have different currencies printed in different colours and different designs.

Interesting discussion...I usually have coins from the countries that I have been too, this includes Romania, UK, USA, Sri Lanka and the latest addition is Rupees from Nepal. I prefer keeping coins and smaller denominations.

i don't collect money from other country. although, i do have different currencies in my wallet or wallets... i have US Dollars (bills only), Thailand Baht (i don't know if this is the correct spelling), UAE Dirhams, Omani rials, Euros, and Philippine pesos. i noticed that in US Dollars, the bills are the same size but colors are almost the same, except for the designs of course, and the denomination. I don't have pennies and quarters. for Omani Rials, different sizes and colors. the bigger the bill, the higher the denomination. coins are in copper and silver - has higher value. Dirhams, different colors. although i didn't keep them. thai baht, i only have a total 100 baht in 20s. philippine pesos, ranges... from 20 pesos to 1000 peso bill. Different colors of course... the same size. coins ranges from 25 cents to 10 pesos. euros... dont keep them as much as i want to... it has higher value than pesos and dollars.

I think it is the best way to keep souvenirs. Of course I don't keep the large amount. Only the smallest possible. I keep one from China, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong. Someone gave me one from USA. It is nice to have some collection. It would be cool to meet someone who has more than 200 currencies of $1.

I actually have Francs from when I went to France a while back. Now they aren't used so it is cool to have them. Also have some Euros, and some coins from the past from I don't know where...Barbados, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, all sorts of Mediterranean countries. Pretty cool.

I went to Japan a few years ago and kept some of its currency as a souvenier. I don't know it's exact value compared to my country's money but when I was there I got a good idea about it. I actually didn't mean to keep it at first but when I got to back I found that cashing it in in my country was going to be for a lot less than if I had done it before I left. That was a while back though. I just decided to keep it.

I pretty much only have Canadian money, which is pretty sad. I live in the US, and because a lot of the canadian/american money looks similar..sometimes people give it to us at the store i work at - without noticing. We usually just get the change, though. I would like to collect different types of currencies.. All of the foreign ones look so pretty and different from my own boring money. . But I haven't had the chance to travel much, so needless to say..my collection doesn't exist yet. Hopefully in the future, though!

It aint like I LIKE collecting money from other countries, it is just that when I go travelling, I sometimes do not spend ALL the money i brung, and then I have som coins from different countries. I would actually like to get rid of them, if I could, but someday I might get to use them when I go to the country again.
