I used to wear contact lenses, but now I am back with glasses. I find it is more economical with spectacles... but I will look better with contact lenses... My friend decided to have laser treatment, now she is free from all the tedious handling of spec. and contact lenses. Or you belong to those perfect eyesight.. Do share your views, experiences and your preferences here. Thanks for your time and happy myLotting!

Hi Iriene, I have tried both glasses and contact lenses but the latter can be such a nuisance, dropping them when trying to put them in, having to take them out at night when you are too tired, one falling out in a public place. I gave up and went back to glasses . I used to want to have the laser treatment when I first read about it and it was a new treatment but nothing came of it and then I heard if you are really short sighted it doesn't work longterm. i don't like to wear glasses but nowadays there is a much better choice so I can find something which looks good.

Dear thea09, Good morning, thanks for sharing your experience here. I was facing the same problems too! 1) Spectacles : sometimes I tend to misplaced it, so it is quite inconvenience when I am in a hurry! Have to take out whilst swimming or doing other extreme exercises, fear of loosing it or it will break! 2) contact lenses, as you mentioned earlier. I also have problems trying to put it in, and sometimes worse, I already taken it out, but I thought I haven't, So,I try to locate and pull it out again. It is so dangerous... Moreover, for long hours wearing, my eyes quite dry and sensitive, it might get red, need to put special eye drops too. 3) Laser, I don't think I am buying this idea as yet, even though I have friends who have done it. I choose to wear spec instead. All the best and happy myLotting!

Hi Iriene, just today I got caught out once again, driving back from the mountain in brilliant sunlight I stopped in town for a break and left my normal glasses in the car as wouldn't need them as so bright. But the sales were on and stopped to try a sundress on and it was a bit dark in the shop so took the sunglasses off and then my friendly shop owner had to tell me I'd put it on back to front as coulnd't see what I was doing. Amazingly it suddenly looked a lot better so snapped it up and just hoped that when I got home and tried it on again it would actually look alright. Many thanks for the best response by the way

Dear thea09, Your response deserved the 'best response'! Keep it up! Wow, you had an additional item in your wardrobe : a beautiful sundress! It's summer time... Btw, why do you need to drive up and down the mountain? Sound interesting, I believe the place that you live will have mesmerising sunrise and sunset since you have nice beaches around! All the best and happy myLotting!

Hi Iriene :-) I consider myself lucky that I have perfect eyesight. On my fathers side of the family every single member of the family wears glasses. Although a few only need glasses to read or drive. I must take after my mothers side of the family as my mother is the only one who wears glasses. Don't worry some people my father included actually suit wearing glasses. Perhaps you are one of these people. Infact I often like trying on my aunts glasses as they actually suit me. Infact I actually considered purchasing a pair without lens and just plastic/glass to wear. There is something about wearing glasses that exude intelligence even though we all know logically this is impossible. The first day my mother wore glasses she was amazed at how differently people treated her. However I do know how hard it can be living with glasses. My father has always been a keen sportsman and I've often watch him struggle to get his contacts in before a soccer match. Often they irritate his eye, get stuck in his eye or get lost if his drops them. Laser treatment certainly is an interesting option and I actually know of quite a few people who have successfully had this operation done. If you can get on with your life wearing glasses and contact lens with ease then their is no point of getting the surgery done but if you find it a hassle laser surgery certainly sounds like an option to ponder over.

Dear tabatha1989, It is good that you got good eye sight! Keep it up! It is true as you mentioned, some people do look better on glasses. Sometimes when we watch tv / movies, some actors or actresses when they have to wear glasses to portray some characters like lawyers, doctors, lecturers, they look really smart! Thanks for sharing quite an impressive views for this topic. Btw, are you still a student? You are a very smart person.. all the best and keep in touch!

Hi Iriene, I'm farsighted and I use reading glasses, the optometrist said it can still can be corrected. I don't use it everyday, only when I really can't decipher letters of printed materials, otherwise, I still prefer to use bare eyes. I had a new pair of glasses as the old one seem to give me headaches lately. I hope it can still be corrected so I won't have to use permanent glasses or contact lenses. Have good day and happy myLotting!

Dear doryvien, In my case, I need to remove my glasses if I need to read fine print from a book! I was thinking of laser treatment, but since I am quite happy with my glasses, I've put it under KIV. I hope you will have perfect eye sight soon! Thanks for sharing & keep in touch!

I'm wearing contacts. I wish to do the laser treatment but was told that I must not get pregnant for the next 6 months. That I cant guarantee so I'll just have to wait until I stop production. Till then, contacts it is. I just want the feelings of waking up with clear vision! Sigh...

Dear submerryn, Are you wearing the daily wear or monthly one? Coloured or plain? I have seen some young ladies, coloured hair, coloured lense.. very beautiful and mesmerising too! With nice extra-colume mascara! Thanks for sharing about the laser treatment, I never know that we must not pregnant for the next 6 months, like that you must wait Who knows, by then your eyesight improved. Last time my power higher, but the last 3 years, the power drop drastically... some say when grow older will be like that... A Clear Vision, A Better Views...happy myLotting!

Dear James, I think since you have been wearing spec for so long, and was quite happy with it...then you no need to go for contact lense..it is quite a hassle to maintain if you are wearing the monthly wear. You need to put in the solutions! By the way, you can always get a special rubber band to tie the handle of the glasses when you swim...but must take care! Thanks for sharing and happy myLotting!

Dear ravirai...is 8616561 , your handphone number? lol I do agree with you, wearing spec is less tedious compared to wearing contact lenses. It needs to be cleaned, soak in solution etc. But need not maintenance for the daily contact lenses. Anyway, it is more costly! Btw, since you do plan to do laser in future, have you find out roughly what is the cost for both eyes. Need to start saving..some big companies have this facility or benefit for their staffs to do laser treatment. One of my friend did it and can claim from her company - The Malaysian Stock Exchange! Thanks for sharing and I am glad to hear from you!

i wear glasses too.. i keep thinking of getting contact - but i am really lazy to take care of them, and the disposable ones are still quite expensive for my budget.. my good friend also had laser treatment some eight years ago, and she's been free from wearing glasses or contact since then - she suggested laser treatment to me too, but since i cant even afford contact lenses - how could i possibly afford laser treatment ?

Dear 4mymak, Thanks for being my first myLotter to share your views here for this topic. Appreciate it very much. Wearing spectacle is the most economical. But if you are working, have some extra money, you can try a pair or two of contact lenses. Ask for free - bottle of solution, casing etc. They will give. In Malaysia, most spectacle, contact lense shop : they have free sample for daily wear contact lenses. You can try to ask for free trial pair of contact lenses. They will give it free to you. Try first, see whether you comfortable with it, whether you like it or not before you invest in buying. Some people their eye allergy... Thanks and happy myLotting!

I had perfect eyesight until I tried on someone else's glasses. Now that same person has great vision, after laser eye surgery, and I am in glasses. I really like my glasses and have never worn contacts, they just seem so unnatural to me. I will stick with glasses, but it is a pain to go to fancy outing and to go without eye glasses for some pictures so that I'm more visible. But I take great pictures with r without glasses, but I prefer without.

Dear LiveLove, Last time my sister asked me to try her glasses, just want to check whether I will look good in it or not. I will close my eyes because of the power. But she said open my eyes, she wanted to see properly. My mum saw and sounded me, "Don't wear other's spectacle, got power.. will spoil your eye sight.".. See, since then I started wearing glasses too! But in actual fact I think it is genetic that my family eyesight not so good! You must be good looking because you looks good with or without also. I look like "auntie - old lady" with spec on....So when take photograph, I will remove my glasses if I remembered...( I very vain pot, want to look good...hahaha) Thanks for sharing and keep in touch!

I wear spectacles everyday. I always wish to have a perfect eyesight so that I can say BYE BYE to my spectacles. Until I come across the advance tecnology for having the laser treatment so you will have correct your eyesight to perfect. I think for getting this treatment before. But I still need to check in details to see if there is any sight effects and also need to save money for this laser treatment.

Dear vingyan06, I am just like you, wearing spectacles daily while watching tv, driving and shopping. But I do not wear it when reading or at the computer. I was thinking about laser treatment too, because my friend who did it, is free from all the hassle...It is not cheap! But every now and then, they have promotion or special offer! Another thing that we need to bear in mind is just like what submerryn mentioned, cannot get pregnant for the next 6 months! We must consider that too, moreover..I worried about the side effects too, if I am not mistaken, I think laser treatment only have less that 2o years track records..they like to mentioned that every surgery is 99.99% success rate...we are talking about eyesight here..must think preperly first..that's until now, I am still thinking! Tks for sharing and do keep in touch!

I wear glasses.I prefer laser treatment, but it very expensive. Contact lenses? No. Putting contact lenses onto my eyes is a hassle. I tried a sample once, it is an ordeal trying to put the contact lenses onto my eyes, so give up. Go back to glasses even though quite often I have to look for my glasses when I need them. Misplace of glasses happen to me and my wife too.

I wouldn't say it is a perfect eyesight for my eyes, however I am just glad I do not need the 'extra' accessories as yet. I don't really enjoy having the specs as I am not a very 'hardworking' person to handle all this. I will hope very much that I don't want to have this with me.. but I don't think I can as my family members are all either short sighted to long sighted...

Dear cwong77, You could be the lucky one, just do not spend too much time staring at the computer, get the screen protection...lol, look at the green outside more often, keep it up! Take more vitamin A, eat more carrots! Wearing spectacles or contact lenses are tedious and spending extra money too! I already too late, I like to lie down and read books, this is the outcome-lah, not listening to advise... Tks for sharing and all the best!
