Wow, cwong77, you must have the voice of a nightingale! My son will say "Enough" if I sing to him. LOL. But I do sing to him, despite him not loving it. I sing the common nursery rhymes but I changed the lyrics to make it educational for him. By educational I mean if I want him to memorise something like the month of the year, or the 7 days of the week, I'll take those months or days and sing it to a nursery tune. That way, he can remember it better! :) Now you know why I force him to listen to my singing!

submerryn.. that's a good idea.. thanks for sharing.. it's such a good thing as the children are easier with the song type rather than asking them to remember it by just mumbling to it... I just wonder what song you input the new lyrics ah?

My daughter loves the ABC's and yea, I felt like a broken record myself but just recently she started completing the first half of the alphabet and I was just so giddy and proud of her, she's really trying. I'm going to try reciting nursery rhymes to her now to help her start to read, she's turns 3 the end of August but after seeing this little baby on tv reading words I thought, why not try to teach her to read.

I always sing songs to my baby when I'm carrying him. I actually started to sing song to him when I was pregnant. I went and looked for those nursery rhymes, such as ABC, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Baa Baa Black Sheep, etc. Those songs that I learned when I was young. I also sang some Chinese songs to him. It seems like my baby enjoys listening to songs, sometimes when he is crying, I just sing the song he likes, then he'll pay attention to the song, and be quiet. Sometimes, the songs can make him sleep easily too. Babies are just very cute!!

I used to sing to my daughter, but now when she knows the words she won't let me sing that song anymore. She sings them herself. She is 2 1/2 and she knows the ABC song, Twinkle Twinkle, You are my Sunshine, and Row your Boat along with a few other ones.

Hi there, well i love singing to my daughter since she was a baby until now that she was 1 year and 8 months already. Her favorite was "Ugoy ng Duyan" it was sung by my favorite artist here in the Philippines Regine Velasquez. Here is the lyrics of the song: Sanay di magmaliw ang dati kong araw nang munti pang bata sa piling ni nanay Nais kong maulit ang awit ni inang mahal Awit ng pag-ibig habang akoy nasa duyan * Sa aking pagtulog na labis na himbing Ang bantay koy tala , ang tanod koy bituin Sa piling ni nanay , langit ay buhay Puso kong may dusa sabik sa ugoy ng duyan (The songs is about the love of the child remembering when she was a kid and her mother was taking care and give all the love) Another one is Rock a bye baby - this is very famous lullaby song. Even we are just playing i also sing a song to her its our way of bonding already. Well i hope i can make sense here, keep on mylotting.

Hi, cwong. I do sing to my little one. I sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star too, but i do not know how to sing ABC. I always want to learn this song, but i am always lazy. XD Most of the time, i sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star when he is going to sleep. When he is awake, then i will sing BINGO..he loves this song the most. He looks very excited when i sing this to him. It's like this: (There was a farmer had a dog and bingo was his name oooo... B...I...N...G...O... B...I...N...G...O... and bingo was his name oooo....) X 2 times Somtimes i sing another song too: (Rain, rain, go away, Come again another day, Little Timmy wants to play...oo..oo...) X 2 times I feel bored always singing these few songs to him..i want to learn more songs as i found him love to listen to me when i sing.

Hi, cwong. You are right, sometimes the child will only the one which we always sing to them. But recently i have found that if i sing a new song to him when he is crying, then he will stop and look at me with his curios eyes. That's why i want to learn the new songs, besides this, singing songs to him also can let him learn more vocabularies.

lulumartin, thanks for responding.. actually when the child got so used to the songs we sing, they just want that few ones.. I am like a broken record singing the same song over and over again, but when I change the songs, my girl will not like it and she wants 'her' songs! I now started to let my girl watch some musical VCD but she still prefers I sing for her. Sometimes, she laugh and chuckles so much when I sing to her..

Hello cwong77 this is checkmail and often try a shot at singing some tunes to the little ones , my nehew and niece.Mostly i sing the poems that i heard in my childhood, and some more innovations in it are like the cartoon title tunes. The cartoons title tunes like the duck tales, tales spin, mogli, Thimon and pumba, etc. They just are too excited about it, think so as the response is good.

Dear cwong77, Since I came from a small town, I only exposed to very few nursery rhymes. The most popular among them was : Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, London Bridge The rest I never heard of... BUT since I have my son. I bought nursery rhymes audio tapes, Barney VCD, Sesame Street. etc.. Our favourite was ABC, and I can't remember another title; the lyrics is as follows, 1,2,3,4,5 once I caught a fish alive 6,7,8,9,10 then I let it go again Why did you let it go? Cause it bit my finger so Which finger did it bite The little finger on the right!! Hmm, who knows the title??

Well I would sing the ABC's and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to my toddler when she was younger. She is now two and loves to recite the ABC's to me instead and she tries to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star as best as she can. She loves to sing and so anytime I try to start a song she will jump right in and start singing along or I will stop and let her sing for me. She also likes Patty Cake though I'm not quite sure if you could classify that as a song. Oh and she also loves Ring Around the Rosie, only instead of Ashes Ashes she sings Ashley Ashley (the name of one of her older sisters).

Hello cwong77. I don't have a child of my own but I have a newborn nephew. He's so cute that I wanted to sing lullabies to make him sleep especially on night for he wanted to play at night and play at day! I will tell him baby stories first then sing the Alphabet Song. After singing the Alphabet song I will sing to him the songs I used to sing during my Sunday Schools 20 years ago... lol... My favorites are Jesus Loves Me This I know, Thank You God for This Beautiful World, Anybody Here and Jesus Loves the Little Children. Those songs were fast in rythm but I am creative enough to revised it to make its rhythm slow. Happy MyLotting!
