Is it okay for kid 5 years old learn to use internet?

Kids nowadays are so intelligent... they can learn faster than the adult...
When i was 5 years old, im only learn how to draw with crayon or pencil, how to count, how to make simple arts, or learn how to write and read...
But... i saw many kids are already learned how to use cellphones and some gadgets that maybe some adult have to be more diligent to learn them all...
Kids nowadays are living in the technology era that so fast compare to our era...
They are more understand what does it mean to have robots and ipod than to have crayons and books... hahhaha
And now, the internet... Kids nowadays already familiar with laptop...
Even the parents are teaching them how to use computer...
How about internet? Is it ok for them to learn it?
There are a lot of stuff that is not appropriate for these young immature personality... they just dont know what is yes and no... right and wrong... we have to educate them in the proper way...
hmm... what do you think?

i don't know whether it's good for our child to learn to use internet but i don't plan to let my boy to learn to use internet at the age of 5 . i'm just afraid that he would be crazy about it and seperate himself alone with the outside world . Young kids should play outside a lot to get their knowledge , parents should tell them stories and do some reading with them together .

In my own opinion, I think kids that are 5 years of age should not allowed to use internet yet. Playing the PSP, Ipod is just fine but not internet yet. They will come to that but not too soon. Indeed we are already in computer age but not to the extent of teaching them as early as that age. For once they knew about using it, they can brouse or go to the website that is not appropriate to their age.

I feel the same. The children are smarter than before. My child is five years old now, in fact he started to use computer when he was little. That's because we have several laptops and computers at home. It is easier for him to get in touch with these. I think learning the computer is important. But I don't think it's very good to learn it so much. The children still have to paint by the pencils and crayons more than computer. It is better for them to use hands. Besides, facing computer for a long time is harmful for the eyesight. So I don't allow my child to use the computer for a long time. I prefer him to have some activities rather than facing the computer.

Personally i feel it is too early. Internet is fun, but for a boy of five, better leave him for the moment in a natural world. There are so much to enjoy with green grass, traditional games. material playground, etc. And fun with playmates will be lasting for life. Operating it is relatively easy to learn. He is sure to be skilled, but the screen is no good for his eyes, which is not mature yet.

In this computer age, the sooner someone gets used to the internet the better. The internet can be a substitute for parenting cause everything is on the internet. The internet would make a child learn how to read and to learn all about humankind.
by the time the child reaches 15, they would be a computer wizz and could become a dot.com millionaire.
This would cost nothing, cause net access is so cheap now. Also, it would sort out the problem of dealing with those pesky kids.

Personally I do not have a problem with kids that young using the internet as long as there is a parent there with them at all times. After all there are quite a few interactive websites out there specifically for younger kids to help them learn.

I think it is okay for a 5 year old to use the internet if they are going to age appropriate sites. My daughter was in kindergarten this past year and they had computer lab. They got to go to a site online called fun brain. it has games and stuff geared towards learning. I think as long as you are watching what your child does online that it can be a good thing. There is so much knowledge available online. I would also advise them about the dangers of the internet. The no talking to strangers that we used to be taught as kids still can be applied to the internet.

no, i dont think they should because the internet saps the kids of any sort of imagination. plus, there is a lot of garbage on the internet so i think they should be allowed to go on for a short period per day (say a half an hour) and only allowed on certain sites.

Its really amazing that children of five years old are using computer and i cant just believe it is it really true.Its a good thing to stay in touch of technology but five years old is too much short time to face internet so i think its not of at all.Thanks.

I think the environment surrounding us is enabling to have better and quicker growth of children.Its perfectly alright to have a 5 yr old to be able to access computer.Happy mylotting

I am also disagree bcoz younger child whose age is near about 5 will not learn more from computer .His mind should go to play games.And now a days lots of bad things are availabel in the net also .So we should not allow to child use Internet

No this is not okk in 5 years of age use internet is not good because lots of wrong photos are appeared in some sites like on yahoo front page of site some time sexy pose are display. This is not good for child.

I think that there is nothing wrong in allowing a 5 year old to use the internet. I know of younger children doing so. I have a niece who started learning to use the internet at age 3. Of course, she cannot use the internet expertly then but at least she has some basic knowledge on it. I believe that it is just a matter of proper monitoring. Well, I do not think we would really like them to get addicted to the net at an early age do we? It is also important that they get familiarized with the basics like crayons and books.

Its not good to keep kids in front of the computer at such a young age.He will spend his time playing online games and downloading games and thus wasting time.He will not do his studies properly.He will also fiddle with the computer and spoil all our important documents.They should be taught their lessons at school or they can play with their toys or in the park.The radiation that comes from the computer can spoil a child's health.

I think it is not at all appropriate for a 5 year old kid to use computer first. Because at this age they should learn other things like speaking to others and small thing which only at this age a kid can learn. Starring at a computer monitor will firstly ruine the kid's eye sight so early.An i personally think they can start using computer regularly once they are 10 years old. At this age also precautions must be taken about the eyes and about the contents the kid views in the internet.

Well I personally wouldn't let anyone who is 5 years old to actually go on the computer. They are far too young, and they will also have probably bad eye site if they spend too much time on the computer. I would probably let them when they become more maturer such as 8-12 somewhere around their. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

It's not ok,there no useful things on web.now many young people are trapped into this and not controled themselves.while a 5 years old can do it?I didn't think so.we can teach kids how to use computer and not allow them to use internet.

Times have changed from when we were kids. Now they teach the kids to be on the computers from kindergarten. It's just how times change. I don't really think that a 10 yr old needs a cell phone but I see it all the time and they know how to use the cell phone better than I do. My 3 year old nephew plays the Wii and his Nintendo DS better than I do.
