NIPA HUT: Philippines' national house, do you owned one?

We had it before in our province. It was build at our agricultural lot two hour-walk distance from our proper town.
I really liked the whole environment of the place aside from our nipa hut itself.
The house (nipa hut ) was cool and windy.
We only used the house every time we visited the lot for some planting activities.
Our nipa hut looks like this..(picture shown)

Yeah, we have a cute small "bahay kubo" in our newly brought lot area in the province.. this serve as the caretaker house for a while... its nice and when we are there..its very refreshing, being away from the city pollution for a while is great!.. ^_^

havent owned one but planning to have one. its a refreshing house and cool, my cousin's house is nipa so i like to stay there a bit and enjoy life in the province. here in the city, we cant survive if we use nipa, lots of akyat bahay gang or if ur neighbors' house is on fire, the nipa house will surely burn too... il build one someday inside our lot.

Hello my friend, yes you are right. If you build nipa hut here in the city every neighbor of yours would protest because it is fire hazard...I was just reminiscing our life in the province with our nipa hut..thanks anyway for your respond...

Well I never had an experience of living in one but I happen to visit one in the provinces where I lived once. I am just sad that seldom do I see having that kind of house nowadays. With the housing projects happening here and there I guess the Nipa Hut is not considered as ideal home for us anymore. I can see a hybrid many times where they place traditional nipa roof but their main building is mostly concrete already.

Yes my friend I agree with you. Here in urban places that's the most style, a classic style. Some of them double-walled with veneer. It is very nice to see but for me nothing beat it if that nipa hut would be build elevated place over looking a rice field with a windy atmosphere...wow I wish I could still find that view..thanks for responding my friend...

hello there!
no, we don't have a nipa hut of our own...but i have experience going there! hehehe coz my place when i am younger, as you know i live near the rice field and so some farmers have their nipa huts there...and we just play there and sometimes sleep coz its really nice sleeping there...
and when i am a kid, i also go to Rizal shrine and we play in his nipa hut there! hhehe

Yes hija, for me I would like to back that time where I could sleep again in a nipa hut. A cool and windy atmosphere unlike here in the urban city that full of pollution and noise everywhere..Thanks for responding...

We have one nipa hut in our small farm in the province. Yes, it is much cooler compared to other houses using different roofing. One good thing more about the hut, it is environmentally friendly.
Here's our hut surrounded with different fruit trees.

wow that's nice, I really miss that place...because that was once our evironment in the province...I wish I could turn back the hands of time and back on the good old days in the province...Thanks for responding my friend...

Hello there my friend,
Back in my hometown,LA UNION,the Northern part of Luzon.Nipa hut is not common,but every municipality had a Tree House right infront the Municipal Hall.It's a Trademark of LA UNION.It is built like the Nipa Hut my friend,only that it is built above the tree.So sad i don't have a picture of it,but i guess you can figure it out.
Looking at the picture you posted,it is so nice to be back half a century during our elders time...just missed the peaceful life

Oh yes..La Union I've seen it already a picture of that in the Post Card, a tree house. Yes my friend I also miss those Nipa hut we used to go with my elders..I guess that would never be coming back again...we can only reminisce those beautiful and clean environment we used to live in before...Thanks for responding my friend..
