I am a Christian, but my favorite Hindu god is Ganesha. He is the god with the head of an elephant. There are various stories regarding how he got his elephant head. Rat is his vehicle ; he rides on a rat. Who is your favorite Hindu god? What makes him your favorite? What are the rituals followed in your place to worship Ganesha?

I also like Ganesha. As i know, in Hindu's mytology, Ganesha is god of science. It's good to know that there's alot of people out there who are not Hindu but want to know much thing about its mytology. I'm one of them who are not Hindu but i have great interesting in its mytology. However we know that Hindu is the oldest religion ever in this world. Living in this multicultural society, actually we can learn many things about this life from other religion's perspectives. All religion teach us how to be good. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

It is nice to hear that you love Ganesha too. It is good that you are interested in Hindu mytology. I am also intersted in it; I also want to know about Buddhism. I wanted to buy a big statue of Buddha once, which is made of brass, but it was expensive. I also like the god - Krishana. I have a statue of Krishana playing flute with Radha.

I like Lord Shiva :) I don't know why i'm fond of him - may be because he is portrayed as a macho man - may be. But my next fav is his son Lord Ganesha :) According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ganesh is supposed to help you cross all hurdles in every phase of your life. So people worship him everyday. :)

Many of my friends are fond of lor Shiva and Vishnu. I like lord Nataraja also. It is nice to see him standing in that dancing position. Is Nataraja is the same as Vishu? or another birth of Vishu? I don't know more about Hindu mytology. The next god I like after Ganesha is lord Krishna. I have a statue of Krishana and Radha at my home given by Shobana.

My favorit god is Lord Krishna. I love listening to his childhood pranks again and again. You feel as if the child Krishna is doing all those in your own house. We make modaks to please Ganesha on his birthday that is on Ganesh Chathurti. We also break coconuts to appease Lord Ganesha.

I like lord Krishna too. I like to watch the serial Srikrishna in the channel Asianet. I visited Vrindavan and Madhura temples. I also have a statue of Krisha and Radha at my house where Krishana is playing a flute. I have seen people are more into rituals of Ganesha in Tamilnadu compared to Kerala. The main godess of my village temple is godess Kali. Thanks for the response.

My favorite Hindu god is Ganesha too. He is supposed to safeguard us from any obstacles in any of our new endeavor and bring progress and prosperity to us so all worship him before they set to do anything. He is favorite to me because as I have already said he has helped me all along when I pray for him. People offer coconuts to him when they wish for something good to happen.

I am a Christain and not sure about many Hindu rituals. I think offering coconuts can be done to any Hindu god. Am I right? I have seen people offering coconuts in almost all Hindu temples. I have seen people worship Gensha more in Tamilnadu compared to Kerala. Also, there will be a Ganesha statue outsie or a part of the wall of most of the houses in Chennai. Thanks for the response.

It is quite great that you have a secular approach and I appreciate that. My favourite Hindu god is Lord Ganesha and Lordess Kali. Whatever good things you wish to achieve, just pray to lord Ganesha with utmost sincerity, it'll definitely occur in reality. Lordess Kali is one powerful goddess and she is like Mother to me. Just how the catholics consider MARY as the mother, Hindus consider Lordess Kali-( she is even called as Parvathy) as their mother. There are many ritual procedures that has to be followed for different gods. But there is absolutely no necessity to perform any specific ritual for Lord Ganesha. Just if we pray to him sincerely from heart, that is sufficient.
