Hi Tzaiwah, the actual verse in the Bible is "the love of money is the root of all evils".
Money is just a tool, how can it be the root of all evils. But when people love money more than everything, then the love of money will make them do all kinds of wicked things, including killing their family members and friends, that's why it is the "love" of money that is the root of all evils.

I remember few months ago there was an interview on the radio with a lady, who was asked about her opinion on recently economic recession. What she said was quite striking. She expressed that she was so happy to know that econimic storm knocked down many rich people; she had known a lot of them and the way they love and make money is just 'evil'. She compared people who had to ration their food because of poverty with those who complained they couldn't go to restaurants because of recession. Her opinion sounds synical but it's hard to disagree with her.

I think the recession knocks down the wrong kind of rich people. You see those stupid senior managements in those banks are still making good money, despite bringing the whole world into recession.
If those guys have done a better job, there will not be this recession now. They are the kind of rich people that are the root of the current recession.

Well, no, I don`t think so. Blaming something that has no life for the activities of those who have their own brain to decide and differentiate is in no way right. I believe the root of all evil is the person`s lack of sense of control. It is a senselessness of those who commit evil.
For example, if a man kills somebody due to arrogance, or rapes a girl, where does money come into the matter.
But, it does not mean that money is a good entity. Certainly money is the proof of the wickedness of human minds, but itself it can not be wicked as it has no life. That is money is not the cause of evil but it is certainly a result of evil.

to me money is not evil.
But the LOVE of money is evil.
There is a difference. Money by itself is harmless. But if one love it, craves about it, thinks about it daily. And is willing to stoop low to get it.. then i think there is where the read alert comes in.

Money is indeed the root of all evil. Like even you see in some drama, some daughters and sons tried to kill their parents just because they wanted the inheritance from their parents. Money can cause someone to even kill their own parents, that's too evil. Money makes the world go round~

yeah it is common saying that money is the "root of all evil" but did person think of that money is not really the root of evil its just an instrument of man's desire for status. Money had been the measure of what is your status in the society.. Either you get money from doing a decent job or the other way around..
